Losing gun sales, ammo

But yes, I think the ammo shortage does affect sales on other aspects of the shooting sports. I've stopped going to the range and buying targets for now.

Yeah, I figured that. Seems to be just my luck each time I'm looking to buy from them lately.Wes wrote:Means they are sold out, they had several options earlier this morning. After the 08 run on guns and ammo I made sure I had enough for at least 2 years. I wouldn't buy anything right now. Once the panic buying is done it will start to get better. I know several people Who own way more firearms then me and keep asking me for ammo. You either buy enough ammo to hold you over or you become a reloader.

I heard even reloading supplies are getting a little harder to find now as well.CC Italian wrote:After the 08 run on guns and ammo I made sure I had enough for at least 2 years. All the guys I know who reload have enough to last years if need be. They just don't have more then 200-300 rounds of any given caliber loaded at a time. Basically they have thousands of unload rounds. The only loaders who are running out are commerical or those new to reloading. Once they get all the dies and components they are good to go for a long time.

I know that I've had my eye on expanding into the land of .40 with a new Smith & Wesson M&P, but now I'm holding off until things get back to normal. Or at least until a new normal is established. And until things settle down, I'll be working on my sporting clays proficiency.

Keep checking. They seem to have been adding a lot of items between 4 and 6pm the last few days, so keep reloading (no pun intended).equin wrote:Yeah, I figured that. Re: Losing gun sales, ammo
I actually just ran out of H335 for 223rem but I can actually use several other powders I stock if I really get desperate. There is nothing really out there for powder right now. I still have a stash of primers from the '08 panic that will last me still another 2-4 years. I purchased several thousand bullets at the end of the summer for all my calibers.equin wrote:I heard even reloading supplies are getting a little harder to find now as well.CC Italian wrote:After the 08 run on guns and ammo I made sure I had enough for at least 2 years. Frankly though, I think I'm going to switch to shooting my black powder Hawken for a while. Powder and balls last a long time when you're only shooting about 15 rds a trip...

Might as well start rockin it old school...it is a .50cal after all and it will still reach out and touch things...

Re: Losing gun sales, ammo
I was looking at cabelas discount cave last weekend and was seriously considering a .50 cal black powder job. It had a small stock crack on the butt and was only like $275. It was a really nice gun, but just couldn't convince the boss.olafpfj wrote:Frankly though, I think I'm going to switch to shooting my black powder Hawken for a while. Some of their prices are not so great, some have been pretty good. You have to keep checking five minutes ago, I watched 60 cases appear and disappear in minutes. Expensive stuff is still up there. Keep checking. If you are out of ammo right now, you either have to pay a bit of a premium or wait it out. I have seen some places gouge but I think the above site has been pretty consistently some of the lowest price ammo online, and some of their offerings of Federal, when they get it, are priced fine.03Lightningrocks wrote:Reasonably Priced??? I haven't had to buy ammo in over a year. I am a horder. I am even attending weekly horder meetings. I have my 12 month coin.
