Cabela's Gets It

Post by Rrash »

The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show decided to ban AR's from their show, so Cabela's decided to withdraw, and publicly make a statement. Kudos!

Due to recent changes made by Reed Exhibitions regarding the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, Cabela’s will no longer sponsor this year’s event. After careful consideration regarding Cabela’s business practices, and the feelings of our customers, Cabela’s will, unfortunately, not have a presence at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

Very respectful of the situation. Not applying salt to an open wound. Yep, they get it.

I was at Cabela's today. You don't want to shop in their gun area. There are long lines of people being served heartbreak and disappointment. Their handgun display shelves are so bare that they are displaying backpacks and range bags in places where hundreds of guns used to be. Ammo? Only if you want to feed a 12 gauge. Reloading supplies? They have an excellent supply of ultrasonic cleaners and a small stack of Hornady LnL presses. Dies, bullets, casings, powder, and primers? LOL...you wish.

I'm glad about what Cabela's is doing, but they're in as bad of shape as the rest of the industry right now.

Rrash, thanks for posting that. I'd made a relatively long post on another site about what I expected of the firearms industry and one section addressed retailers and how they would react and what the potential fallout would be.

Your timing was impeccable!

Gander pricing guys smoke too much weed before they work on the guns numbers.

Eastern Sports hasn't pulled the Cabelas logo from their webpage yet. Here's a news link http://www.whptv.com/news/local/story/C ... KDvhg.cspx

Love it. I visit 2-3 times per month (they are on the way home from work), and I will continue to visit them, spend my $$, and support the company with recommendations to friends and family.
