Between those, I would recommend .45 ACP.

10mm is not only uncommon, it seems to be becoming increasingly less common every day. Beyond that, there are significant overpenetration concerns with the round. I'll defer to the ballistics experts to comment further on this topic.

.45 ACP would give you more rounds to stockpile or practice with for the same money. Also, you can always sell a .45 ACP (and the ammo) if you want to get a different gun down the line. Even during shortages, you've got a better chance of finding .45 ACP rounds. You'd expect every store that carries ammo to stock them.

IIRC Lone Wolf sells everything you'd need to convert between the two calibers. It might not be worth it, though, compared to the cost of a second gun.

45. I'm just thinking availability and familiarity. Resale as well. Gun/round has been around a while, hard to go wrong.

The one way I could see 10mm being preferable is if hunting is a large part of what you do, and you're often around animals like feral hogs that have incredibly thick hides and bones. . . and they pose a real risk of harming you.

They're here, but equate finding them to trying to get more ammo for your gun. . . they'll show up eventually, but look at how many rounds you've already gone through with the .45s.

You'd think it'd be the other way around, what with stores always being out of stock of the common calibers now.

Not necessarily a 10 mm guy... Own mostly 40s&w and 45acp handguns...wife has a 9x19 and 380.

I've shot a 10mm and if choosing between the 2 on a practical standpoint I'd say go with 45 for several reasons
Ammo cost ammo availability and in my opinion lower felt recoil for a faster follow up shot.

I have fired Crossfire's husband's 10mm Glock, and it was surprisingly easy to shoot—no different really from a slightly higher pressure .45 ACP......less than +P, but more than a standard 230 grain FMJ practice load. The cartridges I fired were his handloads, so I really don't know their actual specs, but Marty said they were a standard load.

I don't see anything wrong at all with 10mm, but I think that it is a much more practical choice if you load your own ammo. If you're a commercial ammo only kind of guy, then 10mm would be hard to live with due to the scarcity and price of ammo. You'll find .45 ACP (during normal times) almost anyplace that sells ammo. These are not normal times.

I own both and while the .45 ammo is (or was) easier to find in stores I prefer the 10mm. The ammo is actually about the same cost wise and you can buy all you want online. In fact there is more 10mm available right now than .45 online. I buy 500 rounds of range ammo (180 gr fmj) at a time for about $200. That's the same price of wwb at walmart.
