I agree. In a lot of these cases, the more cynical or pessimistic view has little or no downside, while the downside of optimism or credulity could be catastrophic.RottenApple wrote:And maybe that is all it is. Re: New Litmus Test for Generals --Scary if true
I would tap the breaks on conspiracy theories and the idea that Obama wants US citizens/republicans dead until there are hard facts and context to that disturbing information. For example, would we want a general to fire on a US citizen if they were in a hijacked plane that was to be used as a bomb? Absolutely. I'm not suggesting that is the case, but more light needs to be shed before posting wild claims. That type of stuff will be picked up by anti's and used as evidence against all of us.
Is it a good idea to share this information? Yes, by all means, report it, but use it to look for more fact before acting on it. Thats all I'm saying.

A general officer may give an order to fire on U.S.citizens, I seriously doubt that there are any line officers who'd attempt to pass that order to the NCOs in their units. A company commander(Captain)is gonna be 28-32 years old, wife, 2.1 kids, does not want to spend time in prison. Company exec(1st Lt.)24-29 years old, wife is pregnant, or has 1 kid, gonna follow company commanders directive. Platoon leaders(2nd Lt.)21-24 years old, big brass ones(at least the good ones)has a senior NCO(instead of a wife)can and will make mistakes(see senior NCO job description)this is after all OJT.
Not casting aspersions on any coasties on the board but, the wild card in this deck is the U.S. Coast Guard. The Posse Comitatus Act requires that the authority to use Federal troops within our borders be found within the Constitution or by act of Congress. So invocation of Insurrection Act by Pres. and authorizing vote by Congress(if you really want some scary reading check out the Defense Authorization bill from 2007, repealed in 2008). So a lot of effort to get the Armed Forces of the U.S. involved in policing U.S. citizens.
Not so with the Coast Guard. The U.S. Coast Guard, which operates under the DHS not the DoD, is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act, primarily because the Coast Guard has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission. For the most part these guys are unarmed(speculation point for DHS "PDW" and ammo contracts)and have more of a LEO attitude than anything else. Manpower is the limiting factor, I believe there are around 40k Coasties, so tail to teeth around 4-5k shooters, not enough to make an impact unless they are the tinder for the fire that would require invocation of the Insurrection Act.
See how lack of sleep and pain meds can fuel the wildest theories, lol.

Did they have a police department back then?
This very reason is why Posse Comitatus exists.

Did you calculate the impact of Don't Ask, Don't Tell in those? Did you figure in the pardon power? Nobody needs to go to jail if they play their cards right.Andrew wrote:A general officer may give an order to fire on U.S.citizens, I seriously doubt that there are any line officers who'd attempt to pass that order to the NCOs in their units. What Obama has been asking generals, and what his plans are....I don't know. However, there is no doubt in my mind that Obama wants his opposition to either submit or die.Rrash wrote:I would tap the breaks on conspiracy theories and the idea that Obama wants US citizens/republicans dead until there are hard facts and context to that disturbing information. So far since Obama's taking office in 2008 nothing has gone right. Do you really expect it to start now. It sounds like they have been planning something big for awhile. It's almost show time.
Wishful thinking, magic fairy dust, unicorns and rainbows are not going to get the job done, neither for their side or ours.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Their worst mistake is thinking they've got a "mandate" for their shenanigans.LSUTiger wrote:I know that some may dislike Alex Jones but here goes......just because youre paranoid doesn't mean that nobody's out to get you.

LOL, no, just personal observation. Don't want to sound like Col. Nathan R. Jessup but, honor and duty mean something to the young officers who are learning/perfecting their craft in combat arms. They haven't been infected yet with the disease known as "Starophilia" and the politics that are required to move up into field grades. Being a Captain (P) was probably the most stressful time in my life. Gonna lose my company, get to go to grad school, big bonus to re-up, have to move to staff(coffee duty), bride's career taking off, transfers, deployments, etc. Never Lost Focus on the Mission, My Duty to God and My Country, or what would constitute an illegal order. Playing my cards right doesn't enter the equation. The idea that there are commissioned officers who would calculate the repercussions of obeying or disobeying an order they believe to be illegal is alien to my experience.JALLEN wrote:Did you calculate the impact of Don't Ask, Don't Tell in those?
