Interesting quote

Post by LTUME1978 »

The following quote is as appropriate today as it was when spoken.

‎"Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. Captain, that is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave."

Things didn't work out to well for him. Got shot buy his own men lost the use of his left arm, eventually died of of it. Historians blame the loss of him as the begginining of the end. If He had been a little more careful he could have lived and the south might have one.

He would say it was God's will and he would have died at the same time one way or another.

I was just wondering how Robert E. Lee might have thought about the whole thing.
