new to reloading

My hubby said he's going to teach me how to reload the next time he's off from work b/c I asked to learn.I already decap and polish brass but just never learned the finished process.Is it really as hard as some say? My hubby says its very tedious and exact and I probably wont like it.

Any suggestions?

It is exact. It is repeticious. I dont listen to music, visit, talk on the tele, play w/ grandkids, when I get to the powder, bullet, & crimp stage. I have a single stage RCBS. While sizing & depriming I dont mind visiting. Repriming is OK to visit.
If you have a progressive loader I recomend nothing going on that could in any way distract.

I dont count it tedious or boring. For me it is relaxing. No phone, no interruptions, piece & quiet in my little ol 6X10 gun room dont bother me a bit.

Preparing the brass is the most tedious part. After that, it goes really fast!!!

Preping the brass isnt that bad if you have the radio on or something.But going through and seperating it all by caliber is a big pain and its very tedious.

Hes setting everything up now for me to learn but it still might be a day or so before he starts teaching me.We're waiting for the brass to finish tumbling right now.

I am in Huntsville, and would be willing to let you see my progressive set-up sometime if ya'll are using a single stage.

We have a 3 stage progressive and a single.I think hes going to teach me on the single so that I really have to take my time and do it right.But eventually if I like it I'm sure he'll let me use the progressive.

You're in Huntsville huh? where do you go to shoot?Lionstar is ok but we're moving to the range in Madisonville.Maybe we can have a group shoot somewhere.

Preparing pistol brass is easy - if not sorting 1000s of rounds. Get some kind of sifter to do that. Loading pistol round should really be on a progressive. Very quick. Did about 150 in about 20 or so minutes.

Actually, shooting is the hard part - most people just shoot in order to provide empty brass to reload, which is where the real fun is. That's why some men try to keep the reloading to themselves.

The smart wife knows this, and insists her husband do all the shooting - in fact, just to keep him busy (smart women just LOVE to keep their menfolk busy) she'll insist on receiving nothing less than a Dillon 650 for her birthday, so she can reload lots and LOTS of ammo for her man to shoot up, knowing that she's keeping him occupied and out of trouble.

haha! very cute guys.

Actually, I love it when my hubby shoots,b/c thats when I know I'll get to shoot aswell...thats the smart woman.Make him think I'm going for his company..haha no way.I'm going for ME!Trust me,I keep him plenty occupied and out of trouble.

I encourage his reloading so that I get to shoot more.And the next thing new I'm getting is a new 1911! (besides, our anniversary comes before my b-day.)
