New Frontier Armory Polymer Lowers

Post by baldeagle »

Is anyone using one of these? Opinions? Quality? Durability?

I have one of them and a bushmaster polymer. I am not using it but have shot plenty through the bushmaster. They both seem to be of equal quality and it has held up just fine. Hopefully some day I can find the parts to use it.

What does that mean? Aren't they supposed to be complete?

Well, ya do need an upper;)

The New Frontier that I bought from OldCannon is a complete lower. Waaay back in November, the lower was around 110 bucks plus tax. I hear they are going for 170 for the complete lower these days. I have not had enough time with the lower to decide about durability. My guess is that as long as the lower is not terribly mistreated it will have a long service life. Quality seems ok. The only complaint, if one can call this a complaint, is the lower is an extremely tight fit to any of my uppers. My old cramped and aching paws struggle a bit to get the takedown and pivot pins out of the lower and I have to give the lower a good whack to separate it from the upper. The downside being more aching to my paws, the up-side being the assembled AR has little-if-any wobble.

One of my shooting buddies is lusting in his heart about my nice little polymer lower - coincidentally attached to a YHM fluted barrel with a phase5 BCG, Midwest Industries floated tube and PSA upper and Knights tactical BUIS. He just doesn't have the 5 grand that I kid him about paying for it were it for sale - which it ain't.

I have one. It's got a CMMG upper attached to it and the fit is excellent. No rattle, no hammer required for assembly either. I was pleasantly surprised at the feel of the trigger group (FCG), which has polymer parts as well.

I've put maybe 60 rounds through it and am pleased with the New Frontier parts. I took a chance based on favorable reviews I read elsewhere. As of right now, I'd say that worst case scenario is that the trigger group needs to be replaced with metal parts (and I'm definitely not feeling that will be necessary any time soon), but, even adding the price for that I'd say it's a good deal.

Now if I could find some ammo I'd be able to run some more rounds through it and tell you more about durability, but, I'm not very concerned based on what I've seen thus far.
