When mags >10rnds were banned in Canada (no grandfathering) the penalty for mere possession was up to
10yrs in prison. 10years is when some murderers can be paroled, less for mere 'manslaughter'.

For some apparently, the 'perceived possibility of a future potential crime' is somehow worse than an
actual crime.
