Yes. The trust is a living doc and items can be entered and removed at will. It is simply a legal entity, you can put houses, cars, whatever into it.johncanfield wrote:Can you set up a trust before you plunk your money down on a NFA item?
Going to bite the bullet and set up a trust for NFA items...

Re: Going to bite the bullet and set up a trust for NFA item
Considering the expense incurred so far, and that I believe these types of NFA items are better left to the specific caliber they are designed to, to be effective, I'm not inclined to invest in an item that might work for different calibers and firearms, as the ability to integrate them to a lot of different firearms might become too cumbersome to be reliable/sustainable...I have never heard of a suppressor being utilized in this manner...I stand to be corrected though, but I do not wish to upset the plan I have now...Carry-a-Kimber wrote:Any reason you are going with a .308 and .223 can instead of a multi-caliber can?stevie_d_64 wrote:Ohhhh, A GEM-TECH for a new upper on an old CAR rifle...(Dad's)
A cute little SilencerCO "Sparrow" for a Ruger MkIII already threaded...
And a ThunderBeast for a Remington 700 in .308
Going to be a pretty penny for all this stuff, but hey...
The great thing about the "trust" is that it can be amended to include other family members later on...I do not plan on being around forever, so I need to make sure everything stays legal for those others when the final "cease fire" is called...
It would be an interesting discussion, to have, separate from this one...

A lot of people use same cans for different calibers like a 308 can on 223 and 22. I use my 223 can on my 22s all the time. It does not harm them. I just ordered an Osprey 45acp can to use on 45, 9mm an 22 as well. The mfr even makes different pistons for changing calibers so must be ok.

Sure, I agree...I am in the process of deciding the type of mounting I'll put on the rifle, either a QD (quick disconnect) or a threaded connection...I'm leaning more toward the threaded connection, that I might be able to duplicate the threading already on the little Ruger MkIII...that might work out real well for me...rm9792 wrote:A lot of people use same cans for different calibers like a 308 can on 223 and 22. The new upper for an older CAR rifle will have to have a standard NATO 22mm birdcage muzzle brake to allow that other suppressor to mount and function properly...That's what I have been told and have no doubt about the technical aspects of that suggestion...
We are close to getting this all in work, and the first step is completed...The trust was fairly easy to get in work, and the lawyer (firm) was absolutely excellent in their support and explanation of the process...Most folks know me to be a rather good nuts and bolts kinda guy, I enjoy getting into the menusha of issues and hardware in this hobby...And I firmly believe there is ALWAYS something to learn everyday if you keep an open mind...AndI acept the fact that Iam not perfect and make many mistakes along the way...You learn by them, and the wise person applies those lessons, and does what they can to teach others from their own mistakes...
I am thoroughly enjoying this new journey...
