Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
I know this is a long shot but...If anyone has any brand of .32 S&W long ammo or expended brass laying about, I'd like to get the diameter of the rim. All info I have says .375. I have a use for this ammo in an old Swiss military pistol, but some info I'm getting from Europe shows that some .32 S&W long (S&B in particular) has an actual measured diameter of .367 (not good for my application). Soooo, as I can't run down to any local gun shops to check them out in person, as they are in very short supply, I'm hoping that someone here has a cartridge case whose rim they could measure for me, and tell me if it measures .375, and if so, what brand it is. Thanks.
Re: Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
I have 4 different headstamp .32 S&W Long ammo and brass in the shop.
NewFiocci = .370, 369, .369, .369
Once fired .369,.369, .369, .370
New Precision , made Hobart In, headstamp (**)
.368. .368, .368,
once fired S&B
.365, .366, .364, .363,
Hope this helps--doesn't make much different in my 1903 S&W first model hand ejector.

Re: Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
Well I have some old Remington .32 S&W long once fired brass for my wife’s .32 H&R mag SP-101. I don't have calipers to measure, sorry. Here is what I can tell you from what I have heard and my visual inspection between the .32 S&W long Rem. and .32 H&R cartridge in Starline brass. They seem to have the exact same rim base diameter to the visual eye but the difference between .367 and .375 might not be discernable to the eye? What I can tell you is that the .375 rim diameter is for American spec brass and that Starline .32 H&R is .375. I would assume then that Starline .32 S&W long brass would be .375 but this is just a guess. Also, FYI Starline brass is better then the Remington in my experience for reloading. If you could find it I would look for .32 S&W long in Starline brass. Hope this helps.
Also for oddball calibers Reeds Ammo and Research in OK make great ammo. They are a small company and you usually have to wait until they have a large request for orders on hand before they will load a certain caliber.
Here is a link. According to there website they have some .32 S&W long in stock. http://shop.reedsammo.com/product.sc?pr ... egoryId=36
Shoot them an e-mail and I am sure they could help you out if they answer. They where very helpful for me when I had questions about their .32 H&R loads. On a side note their .32 H&R mag load is pretty hot! There 85 grain xtp ran a little over 1200fps from my 3inch sp101.

Also, here is the number to Starline. Give them a call 800-280-6660
Re: Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
I have a few .32 S&W (short) somewhere. If I can find them I'll get a measurement. From researching .32 SW short, long, .32 H&R Mag and .327 Federal all share common rim dimensions among other things. Forgot to add that the rim dimensions were .375 and that according to what I pulled up Colt called it .32 Colt New Police in their revolvers.

I have some .32 S&W also in magtech brass but no calipers. They all look the same to me but I know there is a slight variation.
Re: Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
Thanks for all the replies guys. I really didn't expect any. As you can see by the first reply, the .375 doesn't seem to check out (at least on the ammo that aggie67 has).
The actual ammo for this revolver is 7.5mm Swiss Revolver ammo (7.5mm x 23). As Fiocchi is/was the only one making it, and the supply has completely disappeared, and may not be produced any longer (from what I hear) I may have to rely on a substitute. It has been said on some Swiss gun boards that .32 S&W Long as a substitute would be OK, but the one knowledge fellow in Switzerland I have been corresponding with said that when he loaded the cartridge in his model 1882 Swiss, the measured rim diameter and the chamber diameter were the same on the earlier version he had (.367) using S&B ammo. On the later model he has, the cartridge just fell into the chamber. He concluded that unless you could find a brand of .32 S&W long ammo that had a larger rim diameter than the chamber, it was a no go. I agree. He recommended I search around. That's when I discovered that the rim diameter of .32 S&W long according to all sources I could find was supposed to be .375. That would work. I'm not reloading for this gun (yet), just trying to verify that the .32 S&W long will work, as long as the brand's rim diameter is somewhere close to .375.
Failing to either find some actual surplus ammo for this gun (Fiocchi), or find that .32 S&W long is a no-go, many who own these reload cut down .32-20 brass. I may have to go that route (I have a friend that reloads). Of course than I'm into finding small pistol primers and powder, which are both in short supply. Last option is to never fire it, as it is a collectable anyway

Re: Question on .32 S&W Long Ammo
If any one is interested the information from a fellow on a reloader's forum on .32 S&W Long was thus: 47 out 50 mostly Rem Peters case rims were .375 and the others were barely under that.
