Walked out with an XDs and a Ruger 10/22 Takedown, I'd say not a bad ammo trip LOL

I've done the same thing twice in the last week and a half. First was a XDs and yesterday was a XD45.
And still haven't gotten any ammo.

Now the question is, can you find ammo for the Ruger? Or did you have enough from before the craziness..?

You beat me to it. That is the question!

Well, I do (did?) - see below you will understand) have about 700 rounds of .22 ammo.
When I first walked into Academy this morning, they had probably 300 - 500 100ct boxes of CCI ammo, as well as .45 . 40 9mm, etc.
So I picked up 1 box of CCI 100 ct (a bit overpriced, but if I could only get 1 box of the caliber, I didn't want it to be a 50 ct box!

So when I bought the guns, I was told "since you are buying a gun, you can get 3 boxes of ammo for them"
So I picked up 3 more 100 ct boxes of CCI, and I convinced a lady that wanted 9mm (but not .22 or .40) that I would buy a box of 9mm for her if she bought me a .22 and a .40, so we did that, I paid her the difference after we each rang up our own, so I ended up walking out with 500 rounds of .22 and Instead of buying 3 boxes of .45, I got 3 boxes of .40 (they weren't supposed to let you do that, but as I was going to spend over $1100 for the sale, I think they looked the other way for me)

So now I have about 1200 rounds of .22
And you are thinking, why did I pass on the .45 and the 9mm, cuz I have about 1500 rounds of each already that I bought when I could get 500 count boxes at Academy.

So do I have enough .22?
Can you ever have enough .22?
Nope!
But I hope things are easing and when they do, I am going to buy a box or 2 a week (550 count hopefully!) until I get up to 10,000 rounds or so of .22!

I'm looking for a 10/22 and I was at the same Academy Friday morning for ammo. I usually go to the back and ask about 10/22 but I didn't yesterday. Oh well, I'll take this as a lesson learned. This morning they had a lot of 525 bricks of 22 lr. By the time I left the store there were only 3 bricks left. Again, I didn't go to the back to check on the 10/22.

By the way, what were they charging for the 10/22 takedown?

Congrats. I'd love the 10/22 take down.

Enjoy the XDs. Has been my favorite carry gun so far.

i keep seeing the xds at academy but i've yet to see a 10/22 takedown in the wild. I keep looking for just a regular 10/22 for a project rifle and cant find one for a decent price.

they didnt' have the takedown on display and I wouldn't have known it was there, if it were for 2 of the sales guys saying "is the Takedown still here"
Once I heard that I said "ILL TAKE IT" before I heard the price

The price was $349 + tax
Of course, it only came 1 10rd mag, so I picked up 2 x 25 round mags also, so add on another $60 or so!

We shot it today, only at 25 and 50 yards, but with the iron sights, it is dead on!

The Arms Room had 2 regular 10/22's last week, but sold quickly.
They were (I think) $259 each or so.

I guess I'll wait to see if I can score on a regular at Academy someday. I saw the carbine at Carter's Country for $279 but I'll wait.

Academy seems to be getting in more XDS's. I had a very similar experience about two weeks ago. They used to be about like finding a unicorn.

I have seen three XDS's in the last couple of months - one at Webster Academy, one at Marburger Sporting Goods, and one at the Pasadena Carter's. The Shield was harder to find.

I have also been on the lookout for a Ruger 10/22. Congrats Teamless on finding yours.
