Just called every Academy in greater Houston - no joy. Missed a couple in stock examples by a couple of hours!

I found one here for $429.99. http://www.ktpguns.com/

Good folks to deal with, but of course, you'll still end up paying shipping and FFL transfer fees.

They have gotten two or three large (50-100 firearms at a time) batches of 9mm shields in over the past couple weeks.

I'm up in Portland a few times/year, but that won't help me right now :-( And besides, I guess while I could buy one in Maine, I couldn't take delivery of it; I'd still have to have it shipped to an FFL anyway? Stoopid federal regulations...

Carter's Country has one for $500, but I don't need it THAT bad.

Last week I saw two listed as "buy it now" for $499.99. Of course, you have to add on the FFL transfer...

Well I fortunate to buy a brand new one in the box so I don't have any complaints.
