New Acquisition Old Pistol

Post by puma guy »

A freind gave me this pistol today. Any info from the informed members here on the forum is appreciated. It's marke Franz Stock-Berlin D.R.P. cal 7.65.
From what I could ascertain it's maybe 1930's and shoots .32 ACP. He gave me a box of .32 S&W Long for the pistol, but I have seen only a couple of semi-auto pistols that shot rimmed cartridges. Being made in the era I beieve it to be I think it should handle modern .32 ACP rounds, if it's tindeed he correct cartridge. It has some light pitting and freckling on the barrel and slide but the frame retains most of the bluing.

Nice little gun. Made from 1921 to 32. Designed by by Walter Decker and manufactured by Franz Stock , it will indeed shoot .32 auto. Your gun sounds like it's in good shape so it may be worth about $350 or so. Not real rare but not common either. Not a "Nazi" gun as some try and push, but was used by some German solders in WWII.

Thanks EEllis and AndyC,
It looks like a neat little pistol, very pleasing to the eye in my opinion. I was told by the person who gave it to me that his father acquired it off a German soldier in WWII. Having known his father I trust that was the case. Now all I have to do is find some .32ACP ammo.

If we were closer I'd swap you for that 32 S&W long ammo

I would have a gunsmith look it over just in case but it's up to you. The screwed cap in the end of the block, protruding through the rear of the slide, retains the firng pin and spring which can be an issue. You can strip it down by lifting up on the front of the extractor and pressing in the screwed cap, the breech block will come loose and you can then take it out the slide.

Re: New Acquisition Old Pistol -Range Report

Found some .32 ACP Rem 71 grn FMJ and took the Franz Stock to the range tonight. Trigger is nice and it's a fun little pistol to shoot. I almost forgot I had it with me. Put up an 8 inch yellow at 30 ft and let one off to make sure it would cycle and fired off 4 more in rapid fire. Reloaded and took my time on the last 5 and I was impressed. Fixed milled sights even with my tired old eyes were right on. I was holding center of target.

You realize that all you did is make that target mad, don't you? It's gonna come looking for you once it realizes it's been shot..... :smilelol5:

The Franz Stock is a fine handgun , I have a couple and they shoot well with little recoil .
