Another huge +1 for the 2022. (Mines in 9mm as well).
Only gripe is holster options are limited compared to other guns, but there are enough good options out there to not be a deal breaker.

The 2022 is a great pistol, I had one in .40 and sold it and now really regret it.

Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.
