Weber's - Temple, TX - Expensive Mistake
I've got a press on order from Dillon Precision, so I've been picking up brass, primers, powder & bullets while I wait for it to be delivered. This weekend I'm in Bell County visiting family so I stopped at Weber's in Temple. They had Unique & Bullseye on the shelf in 1lb containers. I picked up one of each. Once I got home I checked the online price of a few retailers. Average was $18. I paid $39 per pound at Weber's.

Prices are much higher now due to lack of supply. I know I had to pay a lot more for powder lately, I bought 10 pounds of powder (all that was in stock) and had to pay $30 hazmat fee for only 10 pounds of powder. Normally I could have bought a lot more to spread out the shipping cost over a lot of primers and powder but there was none to buy. If I would have waited then all the powder that was in stock would have been gone in minutes. So, now I have some Hogdon 4895 that I have to sell for $30 due to shipping costs and normal markup. It seems high but I cannot price it any lower without losing money.

Well, if you get close to Houston let me know, or, if you know anyone from Houston heading your way. I hate the small quantities of powder and primers available. I was at an auction yesterday and there were some old primers for bid. Large rifle, I believe Remington, the price was still on them from the 90's, 79 cents per hundred. I just bought some Remington small pistol from Midway, 5000 with shipping, NRA gift, $207. Get what you can right now while you can. And he who hesitates on the order gets a "sold out" before you can charge it out. But, there appears to be more supply now than before so it looks like things are getting better.
