I give up on the Walmart ap as far as telling me what's in stock. It is never right in regards to ammo. Right now mine shows Federal 223 value pack in stock. It's not. So I pick up a box of 7.62-39 for less than $6 so the trip is not a complete waste. The guy at the store is helpful though and said they will be getting some reloading supplies this week. We have 3 WM in town and I did get some powder and bullets at one of the other WM but no ammo.

I doubt the app is wrong. I would be willing to bet the employees are taking care of their buddies before they bring it out.

:grumble Wish my brother still worked at Walmart. He would've probably been a store manager by now.

He said his little handheld device said they had 22 on hand but that it was wrong because it's so popular that it always sells out so fast. This seems like an assumption more than a fact to me.
I asked him that since his in store equipment is showing it in stock that it must be somewhere....right?
He said no.
I think he was just lazy and didn't want to go look for it.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I have with several Wal Marts. The ammo can site and Wal Mart's website will list the ammunition in stock but the shelves will be dry when getting there. I am not able to take the time to go hunting around early in the morning or late at night so I'm stuck with what I can find. Freedom Munitions is about my best bet for 9mm these days and there very little decently priced 5.56/.223 that I can find. Things do seem to be improving somewhat but it is a slow going as usual.

There were rumors that employees were buying up all the ammo and flipping it on gunbroker for a 400% markup. If I was a manager at walmart and found out my employees were doing that I fire them all.

I don't see a problem with an employee buying 1 box of 9mm everytime a shipment comes in if he buying it for his personal use. The ones buying ammo just to flip is wrong.

I went back to the same Walmart that I visited last night and guess what?
9mm!!
Funny how it was magically in stock this morning....

After reading your first post, I realized what you were talking about.

So, here's what probably happened. The Wal-Mart system will show ammo (or anything for that matter) in-stock the minute the truck pulls up to the store. Doesn't matter if its sitting in a box 20 feet deep in the truck, it'll still show "In-stock". Chances are they hadn't unloaded the truck yet the evening you were first there. Of course, you come back the next morning, and its on the shelf. The trick is in finding out not only when they get their shipments, but when they unload the truck/stock the shelves. One of the WM a little ways from me gets trucks in about 8 in the evening and re-stocks well after midnight; they won't sell till the next morning. Another one though gets the truck about 4:00 in the afternoon, and will re-stock about 6:00, so I try to stop at that one on my way home.

Of course, this doesn't help when the SG associate vehemently claims that they don't have any 9mm, even though the app says they do. Telling me the "app is never right, I was just at the cage and no ammo came in last night". Strange, because its always been right; you're the only associate that always tries to downplay the accuracy. When I called her on it she asked if I wanted to speak to a Manager, to which I of course said I would love to. About 5 mins later here she comes with a cart full of ammo saying "I didn't see this in the cage earlier". Right, you didn't see 50+ boxes of mixed calibers. Needless to say, I went and found a manager after that and made note of her attitude, and how I'd hate to think she might be holding ammo back to sell only to friends or other shady deals. :mad5

Or it was being held for him, a friend or a relative to put on Gunbroker, etc. for an obscenely marked up price. There's a hardware store in Jacksonville, TX that, I'm told, has oodles of cartridges on their shelves for 4x Walmart prices when Walmart has none. Jacksonville has some 13,000 residents...go figure.

There is NO ammo at most walmarts cuz the emps r selling to themelves n reselling online. Many walmarts also allow hoarding or selling to dufuses who buy up all the ammo n resell.academy will only sell u one box of each caliber so they had 9 mm in middle of day, cNnot stand in line more than once.
