To protect the righteous in the valley of darkness.
Re: Why do you have a gun ?
I have owned a gun since I was eight years old , my dad gave me grampaws Iver Johnson 410 , hunting , trapping and fishing were my main activities during my childhood . Every man in my family hunted and owned guns , it just seemed the natural way of things . I still have the Iver Johnson .

People didnt seem to be afraid of guns back then but then again we didnt know what crack , crystal meth and other designer drug were either . Our society has changed quite a bit since then , kind of a diffrent world now . First handgun I ever fired was dad's 32 cal Franz Stock, still got it too , the one top left .

I have encouraged my children to take up shooting and ben fairly successful with it , my fourteen year old daughter shooting her 50 cal CVA youth rifle .

My 40 year old son shooting a Tokrev , yea I decided to spread my kids out a little, LOL . Encourage you children to be involved . I can think of no better way to preserve ours rights for the future .

To make liberals cry. And for self defense. But mostly for the healing powers of democrat tears.

I never heard of Liberal questioning why criminals have guns, knives and other dangerous. If busted, liberal would jump to defend the BG as victim of the society and/or having mental issues, drugs etc. However, liberal puzzles me when they ask why do I have gun on me.
My simple answer is because I can and it is my right. If the liberal have issues with 2nA, then simply do force others to disarm. Cause that simply is UN-American. Live free or die.

Self-defense and as a prevention to tyranny.
Re: Why do you have a gun ?
I have a number of reasons.
#1. Because I enjoy shooting. I shoot IDPA weekly, but even before that I enjoyed "plinking" with friends or going to the range and poking holes in paper.
#2. Because I accept responsibility for protecting myself and my family - both day-to-day, and should there be a crisis that changes the way that people behave towards others.
Yes, I owned firearms for years before I got my CHL....but I applied for my CHL as soon as I legally could once I moved to a place that acknowledges the right of law-abiding individuals to use force in defense of their life when the situation calls for it.

Having ben born and spending my life here in Texas I sometime have a hard time thinking about living in a place that you are restricted or prohibited from owning a firearm , hard to imagine . I rember this incident and Texans with deer rifles showing up before the police could organize volenteering to help and you know what ............no one thought that was unusual !

Guns have ben everywhere you looked my whole life but now people are scared and unwilling to do anything about it , a big deterrent for crime was the fact that in the past a person WOULD defend their life and property and you know what............. criminals knew that everyone had a gun .
