A wall to block sound would suffice. Of course dirt is free. I looked at a map and the area is pretty sparsely populated.

Re: Walburg residents irked at outdoor gun range
I'd like to trade them for the guy who lives about a block from my house. He drives race cars. His favorite thing to do for hours at a time is to work on them which entails raising the engines over and over: barooooom boom boom booom! barooooom boom boom booom! barooooom boom boom booom! Even in the house with the tv on, we can hear it. It does get very annoying and he does not do it only on Saturdays. Then we happen to live on a corner. Any idea what the harley motorcycle owners and teenage drivers like to do when they round that turn? Sigh. I know the neighbors of that range are annoyed, but it could be worse. Hopefully the range owner will be able to install enough sound damping to make them happier. I'm thinking I am happy I am not the poor people who live right next to the race car driver. They must wear ear plugs a lot.

The Georgetown area is growing dramatically. Its both a retirement area and location for a lot of new commuters. This is still off a bit though.puma guy wrote:A wall to block sound would suffice. Of course dirt is free. I looked at a map and the area is pretty sparsely populated.
Frankly after seeing two fires at a range not too far from there, I'd be more worried about the range starting a wildfire if I were a neighbor.

Tracers plus dry brush equals fire. Helicopter plus "Assault Rifle" equals fun!

Try living next door to a guy with many caged roosters crowing all day long...
Fortunately for me, I don't, but I know where this happens about 1 1/2 miles from me.
There are a lot of homes next to and close by this guy.
It's gotta be maddening.

Folks that move to the "country" for peace and quiet are usually disappointed. I once bought some acreage from an elderly farmer to allow for a weekend house and a place for my kids to train for trail riding competition. 2 days after the house was done, on the farmers property adjacent to our drive way, a back hoe and dump truck and a drill rig showed up and started digging. 8 days later they had completed the well and the dig for 6 septic tanks and drain fields. Not long after that, the tanks were in and the well completed with bladder tanks installed. Next came 4 dilapidated mobile homes, 11 autos in varying states of repair, slapped together decks and awnings, and the new residents! The farmer had deeded an acre to each of his grandkids!
I won't go into the ensuing 2 years of un-neighborliness from the grandkids who didn't want to understand that "Pap Paw" didn't own all of the land in the "bottom to the ridge" anymore. Suffice it to say we sold at a small loss and found a nice quiet place with 5 acres inside the town limits.
