Citizen Contacts

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Citizen Contacts

Post by Baytown »

I forgot to share my encounter w/ a CHL'er on a call a couple of weeks ago.

I get a call of a prowler and the homeowner is in the woods trying to chase them down. This is called in by a neighbor of the CHL'er.

I get there and "Hero" is walking out of the woods at the trailer park with a Sig in his hand and yells across the street at me, "Don't worry, I have a 'gun license'". I ask him to stay put and tell the neighbors I would appreciate them going back to their house, I needed to speak with the "victim".

I ask him what he is doing and he tells me someone was by his trailer, some kids he thinks, so he grabbed his gun out of his truck and took off after them into the woods.

I informed him it was called a CHL for "CONCEALED" handgun license, not a "Run around in the woods with a gun in your hand license" (I guess that would be a RAITWWAGIYHL, but that just doen't roll off the tongue like CHL, but I degress.) Secondly, I reminded him he was required to have his license on him, it was not a "gun license" but a CHL, and finally, what in the hell was he doing in the woods by himself chasing people around for.

Then the final question, what in the hell did you plan on doing when you found them. He looked at me with this dumb look and said, "I guess I'd point my gun at them."

I had to leave because it is not legal to shoot people like that.

So there, cops are not the only stupid people with guns walking around. :P

It should be legal to shoot people like that.

BTW, had he bred yet? If so might have to take out the offspring as well.

Did you cite him for anything? Stupid in Public (SIP) or anything?

Did this guy actually show you his CHL? It's a miracle he didn't trip in the woods and shoot himself.

I did see his CHL, and I wanted to cut it up and drop it on the ground. :)

Seriously I just walked off and got in my car while he was in mid-sentence so I would not do or say anything I would regret later.

Probably going on to all his friends about what a rude cop I was.

You could have gone this route:

Officer's Affidavit for Suspension of Concealed Handgun License and/or Instructor's Certificate
And/Or
Officer's Affidavit for Revocation of Concealed Handgun License and/or Instructor's Certificate

Although I don't see a check box on ether form for "Is A Moron".

I think the guy should count himself lucky

I know I've been gone for a while, but I'm back. USMC-COL, thank you I appreciate that.

Yall are not going to believe this, but the same idiot called back, he now lives in a different trailer park, but those kids must have followed him. Same call, different chapter.

I got out of my car, saw who it was, and told him if he had his gun with him, I better not find it or he was going to the gray bar motel. He said, "but I have a gun license" (there we go with the gun license crap again  ) I suggested he go back inside his mobile domicile and never call the police back unless it was on a Wed, Thurs, of Fri. (my off nights)

I got in my car and drove off. I have not heard from him since,

"Just when you thought it was safe...uhhhh...wait one..."

911 Operator: "911 emergency, how may I direct your call?"

Caller: "My name's ________________, an ah got a gun license!"

911 Operator: "Thats great sir, shall I dispatch police?"

Roy: "Yeah, send that "Baytown" feller! I got to remind him that I got a gun license, and that those darn kids are botherin' me again...Ahm out in the woods in just mah skivvies, so don't tell the camera crews, ok?"
