3" 1911, Where Do Ya'll Carry It?

Post by ZakBradshaw »

My license should be here this week, and I have a 3" RIA 1911 that will be my carry gun. I bought one of the DM Bullard Dual Carry IWB leather holsters and I like it. It's extremely well made. What holsters/locations do ya'll carry your compact 1911's?

Same here for my 9mm EMP.

I also use Galco Con's for all my .45 1911's. And believe me, I went thru quite a few (off shelf and Custom) before finally realizing that Galco was the best for me and that's why I eventually bought several lengths.

I'm not hitting the printing topic, because I know it's been discussed here so many times...but, when you are carrying your 1911's do you worry about it bulging? I generally wear "athletic" fit t-shirts and when I carry my gun, there is a slight bulge. The average joe probably couldn't make it out as a gun, but you can tell something is there. Should I be concerned?

You should not be too concerned. Most people would not even notice it if it was even in plain view (OC).

As long as it is covered, bulges do not count.

Thanks for the replies guys! One more thing, any suggestions on a good leather gun belt? I kind of like the "Ranger" style belts, but am good with anything that doesn't use a round or a cowboy buckle. I want a DM Bullard belt, but have a hard time dropping $80 on a belt. Any cheaper alternatives out there? I can't wait to get my plastic!

Spend the 80 bucks. I use http://www.thebeltman.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

They are about $80, but it is better than spending on a cheap belt and then having to buy a good one.

That's what I figured I would do... I'll have to wait until next check, but I'll get the DM Bullard.

It can be impossible to get a CC OWB holster/mag pouches to slide onto a ranger style belt.......think about it.

Only type OWB Holsters/Mag pouches that MAY work is the snap on styles.

3" Kimber in a Nightengale IWB Raptor at 515. I have been carrying OWB in a DM Bullard since its more comfy with shorts for summer. No one can see a bulge on my hip.
