Ordered Comtac Minotaur (hybrid leather/kydex) for STI Escort right after I got it. But agreed with others that putting such a nice gun in a "plastic" holster is borderline immoral.
That .45 is now pretty much a safe queen, now "carried" in a soft case when used mostly for just training discussions on 1911 style pistols in 101 classes.

Do you like cross draw? Is it easy to keep concealed? I have always like the idea of cross draw, but never carried that way. I wouldn't mind getting a second smaller handgun to keep as another carry option or to carry as a backup. I was thinking about a Polish Makarov or an LC9. I REALLY don't like polymer guns, so was thinking on the Makarov. They are great guns if you change the springs out and polish the feed ramp. I've had a few of them.

Sparks Nexus at 8:30 (lefty) Also for supreme quality belts at a fair price, look at A & G gunleather... custom or quick ship.

Personally I think it conceals better cross draw and a lot more comfortable and easier to get to when sitting, ie. like when driving. Also if someone is trying "make" you I think they are going to look more in the 3-4 O'clock position than the 9-10 O'clock position.ZakBradshaw wrote:Do you like cross draw? Reading this thread, I have a sidebar question.
Most folks are saying 3:30 to 5:30.
Carrying behind my hip bone makes the weapon very uncomfortable when I'm sitting in my car. I carry my Para Ordnance 7.45 at 2:30 so the handle cants forward and the muzzle rests alongside my hip instead of digging into it when I sit.
I'm curious, I'm I missing something?
TIA
Nick

Everyone is a little different.... but for many, just behind the hip bone is a great place- it causes the weapon to follow the body and print less and if you don't go too far back there is usually a spot that it's still comfy when seated. Experiment with position- 1/2" -1" can make a big difference.Diesel42 wrote:Reading this thread, I have a sidebar question.

I noticed a huge difference going to the Nexus from the VMII (the primary difference is extra cant) in both comfort and concealability. Also a few LB's can make a big diff... I lost some weight and it made some carry options better but others worse. That's the tought part about this and the reason most of us have a box of holsters.

I find that varies depending on (in no particular order)Carrying behind my hip bone makes the weapon very uncomfortable when I'm sitting in my car.
1. the gun - I find a 1911 is more comfortable than a glock
2. the holster - a hybrid IWB seems most comfortable
3. the car seats - more padding is more better :-)
If Texas had winter, I'd carry in a shoulder holster.
