45 Auto vs 45 GAP

Post by jl39775 »

I went to Academy with my wife to pick up a couple of boxes of 45 Auto. When I got home, I notice one box was 45 GAP. Is 45 GAP safe to use in a 1911?

NOOOOOOOO!

45GAP is Glock Automatic Pistol. Not the same size as 45ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) for your 1911.

Take it back.

No. .45 GAP is a round for a specific model of a Glock pistol. Unfortunately all ammo sales are final. Trade it or offer it on one of the online forum (here maybe).
Armed not dangerous but potentially lethal.

All sales are technically final, but I've managed to return a few boxes before. Be apologetic, contrite, and explain that it must have gotten mixed in with the other .45s. The sooner you notice and try to return, the better chance you've got of finding a sympathetic manager.

Trading / selling is always an option, there's just not quite as big of a marketplace for 45 GAP. You should be able to get retail or pretty close to it if you find somebody who wants it.

The boxes were stacked next to each other and the same brand. I hope they let me exchange.

At first, they wouldn't let my wife return or exchange. My wife called me and I explained to the manager what happened. They let us return it for an exchange. I was hoping they would let my wife get two boxes today but no such luck. I can't complain, the GAP was a box of 50 and we exchanged for a box of 100. I just stopped by the store and picked up another box of 100. Academy has always been fair to me and I'm glad I live close to a large store.

I haven't bought ammo in about 6 weeks. The Academy in League City is well stocked. Is the ammo hoarding over?
