Sig 229 40 w/ 9mm Barsto barrel conversion Question..

Post by Reysc »

Question for the Sig users/lovers. Justy acquired my second 229 in 40 and this one comes w/ a 9mm barrel also. Cool I can shoot less expensive 9mm at the range. Now, I know that 40 cal. and 357 sig uses the same mag but unsure about the 9mm. previous owner told me he has used the same mag for 9mm. I believe him but just double checking with ya'll..
Thanks in advance for your replies!

Reysc,

While you can use the .40/.357 SIG mags you will find that 9mm mags made for the P228
will be a better fit for the round. I have a pile of Mec Gar P228 mags that I use with mine and
they are perfect, and cheaper than SIG factory mags.

Enjoy your 3 caliber pistol. I sure enjoy mine.

Kind Regards,

Tom

Thanks Tom!! Now, I feel better using the same mag but I will be shopping for your recommended MecGar 228 9mm mags. I just have to properly mark them.

Reysc,

Or, get the P228 mags in SS as I did. Real easy to keep them seperated
that way.

Reysc,
Before you spend money on P228 mags, try your P229/40 cal. mags.

I have 4 P229 factory 40/357 mags and they have all worked without a problem with 9mm and my Bar-Sto 9mm conversion.

I have had one failure to eject using the 9mm Bar-Sto. You will like yours, it's cheaper to shoot 9mm.
