Sorry. There are enough ABC fed.gov agencies that pack. Tax collectors do not need to.

And when faced with the complexities of the tax laws they would just ignore tax fraud for other crime or they would end up being exclusive to the enforcement of said laws so they basically would still be tax cops. These are not collectors, auditors, or anything but criminal investigators.
Whatever. Keep arming up the feds. Let's make certain the EPA, NOAA, NASA, FEMA, CSB, OSHA, FNMA, FreddieMac, FDIC, and all other agencies are adequately armed up too.

and not just the feds... don't forget those officers commissioned by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners...they have the right to detain, arrest and disarm you ...not sure why...guess maybe if you yell too loud when the dentist hits a nerve that not quite deadened ? ;-)

No...just a humorous reference to another thread which listed definitions of "who are peace officers" under Article 2, Sec 12 of the code of criminal procedure, where in position 34 on the list it has commissioned officers of the Board of Dental Examiners

Oh I get it, I was just trying to show the humor in people worrying about it.

While people laugh at those positions, they are doing criminal investigations and have been through an academy like any other leo. They are usually experienced once that have had enough of the normal nonsense.

They sure have been doing a bang up job of investigating the last several years. Texas medicaid dental fraud exploded to point that Texas corporately owned dental clinic chain operators collected over 70% of ALL the medicaid dental dollars spent IN THE ENTIRE NATION. The claims increased from $200 million in 2005 to 1.5 BILLION in 2011, with the biggest increase following an increase in juvenile medicaid payments in 2009...AND NOBODY ON THE STATE DENTAL BOARD NOTICED. These "brace factories" collected fraudulent payment on braces for 18,000 kids under the age of 12 that still had their baby teeth...and nobody noticed it. They were found to be performing root canals and putting caps on the teeth of toddlers...and nobody noticed. The State Board of Dental Examiners is charged with oversight of all dental clinics in the state...how could this tidal wave of medicaid claims not be noticed if the investigators or anyone on the board was paying the slightest bit of attention. :grumble

Are you trying to make an argument for more dental cops? I would say that medicaid fraud wouldn't be in their arena anyway. If there was a outbreak of Dentistry without a licence that would be on the Dental board. Lets break it down a bit more. In Houston there are 2 investigators for the Dental Board to investigate any and all complaints against Dentists. That doesn't seem a heck of a lot and personally I don't know the ends and outs of the Texas laws to know how much being law enforcement helps an investigator do their job so I won't scoff and make comments that I know my knowledge doesn't back up.

Nope...just saying the entire agency is another example of a government entity that doesn't do their job effectively. No doubt, like all governemnt agencies, they WILL excuse their ineptitude by blaming a lack of sufficient budget and personell...that's what government agencies do. I assess much more blame to the Medicaid bureacracy itself...again, if it is your job to process, handle and pay the claims, HOW is it possible for someone not to notice that dental clinics in ONE state are filing over 70% of all claims in the entire country? The only reason it came to light was because of investigative work by television reporters. WFAA in Dallas and a PBS station, and they have much fewer investigators than the state and federal government do.

It's scary to learn they are this inept and are allowed to carry guns. I would summit, investigating white collar crimes seldom warrants the carrying of guns. Once the investigation is complete and an arrest needs to be made, the FBI could be called in to make the arrests.

All Capone was mentioned. Tell me how many of the "investigators" involved in investigating, arresting and convicting him were armed IRS investigators and how many were FBI agents.
