to say that Jewish people know the dangers of gun control may not be kosher but hey I'm sayin it. They know the deal from personal and institutional experience and don't like the concept!

Re: JFPO Raffling Off AR-15 Rifles
Just bought one. My fingers are crossed.
I told my wife I'd LOVE to own an AR-15 with a Star of David on one side of the magazine well, and "Gun Control Isn't Kosher" on the other side.
I did some quick math:
They are raffling off one rifle per batch of 500 tickets.
Each ticket is $20.
This rifle appears to be the DPMS AP4 carbine, which sells for $954.00 on the DPMS website.
So, they are getting (500 x 20) $10,000 dollars per batch of tickets.
The rifle costs roughly $1,000 (let's say it costs $46 to engrave).
They're profiting $9,000 per rifle.
They're giving away three rifles in this manner. This will be a total profit of $27,000 for them.
All in all, a very good fundraiser. Raffles are great fundraising tools.

Re: JFPO Raffling Off AR-15 Rifles
That was the first thing I noticed. Are the funds going to some cause? Or is this just a way to sell multiple $1000 rifles for $10,000 each?Kythas wrote:Just bought one. My fingers are crossed.

You did notice that it is JFPO that is running the rifle, right?sjfcontrol wrote:That was the first thing I noticed. Are the funds going to some cause? Or is this just a way to sell multiple $1000 rifles for $10,000 each?

I didn't know what that was, and only assume that its real. Plus, on THEIR website it says, "AN ARIZONA CHARITY IS RAFFLING OFFPawpaw wrote:You did notice that it is JFPO that is running the rifle, right?sjfcontrol wrote:That was the first thing I noticed. FOUR DPMS AR-15 TYPE RIFLES FOR US, WITH A TWIST". Then doesn't name the charity? If THEY are the charity, why don't they say "We're auctioning..."?
It may just be an organization I've never heard of before, but combined with the strange wording, it set off red-flags for me.

Unfortunately, that isn't true in many cases; most of the Jewish people I know (probably all; in the 60 to 90 range, most are very well off) are anti-gun Obama supporters. One figured out that I'm an NRA member, but didn't really comment beyond that. (Maybe he's the exception to the anti-gun part.)JP171 wrote:to say that Jewish people know the dangers of gun control may not be kosher but hey I'm sayin it. AN ARIZONA CHARITY IS RAFFLING OFF FOUR DPMS AR-15 TYPE RIFLES FOR US, WITH A TWIST
Apparently JPFO isn't the charity but, an AR15 for 20 bucks! Hey! that's a good deal if you win.

Those gambling laws are probably why the Wisconsin-based JPFO is having an Arizona-based organization run the raffle.92f-fan wrote:just FYI Very few "raffles" are legal
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.
