“I feel bad for her,” Wiggins conceded, finally. “But at the same time, I had to reasonably believe the bad guy was in her house based on what they were doing.”

Goldsberry wasn't arrested or shot despite pointing a gun at a cop, so Wiggins said, “She sure shouldn't be going to the press.”

Washing dishes is now cause for police actions? I guess she should have used disposable Chinette and be done with real dishes. :-)

She had to reasonably believe the bad guys were trying to enter her house based on what they were doing.
This is a Glock 40. Fifty Cent. Too Short. All of them talk about a Glock 40. OK?
I'm the only one in this forum fool enough - that I know of - to shoot himself with a Glock 40.

Absolutely incredible! I'm just shocked by what I read, the officer is in denial about being in the wrong.

That was just crazy. I applaud her for standing her ground. Her CHL instructor should be proud of her. From a woman's POV, it's easy to give in to male authority, but she trusted her instincts and said no. She had every right to go to the media, her reputation in her apartment was tarnished by their behavior. I imagine people would have thought them guilty of something, being put on display as they were.

So did they have a warrant to search the whole complex?
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

The story I saw said they had no warrant at all, just a tip that someone they wanted was in the area. That someone was later that same day apprehended some miles away.

Somebody is, or ought to be, in a heap of trouble.

If the home invaders were justified why would they complain about the woman going to the press?

They seem to have adopted the mantle of the victim.

Did they expect to be complimented for their actions?

Sure, get bad info, terrorize innocent citizens as a result and expect no complaints...?

Really?

Maybe that's how it always worked for him before until she spoke up.

K.Mooneyham wrote:This line concerned me quite a bit: "He said they had a tip that a child-rape suspect was at the complex." So, a tip was called in to law enforcement. And then a heavily armed raid ensues based on said tip.
If their SOP is to roll out with a SWAT team and 20-30 officers merely on a "tip" about a suspected fugitive, then it would be a pretty good tactic for an escaping fugitive to call in a tip himself, and send a large group of officers in the opposite direction...hmmmm.

More commentary:
In police raid, did federal agent break the law?

When a federal agent opened a front door and pointed his gun at her, the Sarasota nurse I wrote about last week thought she was the victim of a home invasion by thugs.

And she was, say a lot of people expressing outrage at the way local and federal police terrified Louise Goldsberry.

Those people especially dislike that the federal marshal involved, Matt Wiggins, seemed to think he was a model of good police work because he did not shoot Goldsberry or arrest her in response to her holding a pistol to fend him off.
There is more......

From JALLEN's link:
That's why your castle is only secure from a warrantless police invasion until a cop decides, without asking any judge, that he has cause to go in. If he kills you while doing it, guess who gets blamed?
