Do I understand that these slip into the 12 gauge chamber and allow you to shoot .410 shells? So how does a comparatively small .410 load behave out of a 12 gauge barrel?

I'd like to know how they work out. Back in the "old" days my bro and a guy I hunt with had .410's in O/U pump and semi auto. My brother had a 101 Pigeon Grade 3 barrel set and an 870. The other guy had an 1100 and a 12 ga Superposed with a full Briley set for it. They were much better than I was and I watched them do ridiculous things at the trap and skeet fields with .410's. Shots at distances I could not believe. The Winchester set was stolen in the 90's and though the guys were caught a few days later the gun was never recovered. His 12 ga 101 Pigeon Grade Trap was taken as well. I think they only made a few hundred of the 3 barrel sets. The Superposed is in my possession but I've never shot it or changed barrels, it looks like a fancy model but I don't know which one it is. You've discovered the unfortunate reality that shooting .410 is an expensive enterprise. Hope they do the trick.

You would be surprised at the patterns you get. I have the Seminole brand in .410 and 28 gauge and have used them for years. Kind of a novelty but since I load all 4 gauges it's something to play with. They don't pattern as well as my full length tubes but are easier to get in and out and if someone is shooting with you, they can give it a try to get the feel of it. Also, out of a K-80 there is no recoil with either of the two.
