Cleaning lube off of sized cases

I never thought about it until I read this thread. By the time I get through trimming, inspecting, loading, fondling, and appreciating that I have ammo for a reasonable price, I'm not sure there could be any lube left.

You must do alot of fondling. I use Imperial Die wax as a case lube and it is very effective in small quantitie. It also stays on the case rather well, since it does not take much. I have not stuck a case with this lube versus the old RCBS lube and pad.

I use nothing but Imperial.

I just took 20 rounds out of the box and wiped them off on a white paper towel. While they wouldn't pass the white glove test, I had to look closely to see anything on the towel. I don't have a problem cleaning the outside of the cases but I don't know that I'm gaining anything either.

Can't tell you that you will see any difference with you ammo if you don't clean the lube off, but it kind of like changing your oil in you car, it doesn't make it run better, it just lasts longer IMHO.

I use the Imperial was on my RCBS 308 AR dies. I have to use a lot or the case will get stuck (did not seem to need that much on the non AR dies). When I am done sizing I spray them off with non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner before priming and charging. So far none of the other lubes work with the AR series dies (I have tried the Imperial powder/graphite, Hornady spray lube and old lube pad).

guess I'm a bit odd. For my .45-70 cases, I just roll them across a piece of paper towel with a shot of CorrosionX on it. Tried it once when I first started reloading the big things and it worked fine (it works for everything else, why not? ;) ) I just wipe off any residue afterwards with one of my gun rags.
