Check out SKD Tactical for some good gear at good prices. Here is a list of what I have for my personal gear. I don't like the Army-issued stuff, and I wanted my own setup:

1. TAG Banshee Plate Carrier: http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com ... rrier.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This is a no frills, minimalist plate carrier that is comfortable and easy to adjust.

2. Ares Armor PC Silencer: http://aresarmor.com/store/Item/AA-PCS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; A better way to close your PC than Velcro

3. HSGI Taco mag pouches x4: http://www.skdtac.com/HSGI-TACO-Modular ... sg.227.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Tacos are expensive, but they are modular and hold pretty much any rifle mag, so they save you money in the long run.

4. TAG small hydration carrier: http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com ... rrier.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; More comfortable than a big Camelbak and fits well on the back of the Banshee.

5. Condor Frist Aid pouch: http://www.amazon.com/Condor-Outdoor-Ta ... B005VREWO2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Its really big for a first aid pouch, so I just use it for extra storage on the back of the PC. It can hold an MRE, protein bars, etc.

6. TAG kangaroo zipper pouch: http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com ... nshee.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not really a necessity, but it makes the Velcro chest pouch on the Banshee a lot more usable.

I also have a first line belt set up. I did use a Condor belt for it, because I didn't know if I would like the first line belt concept. I do, so I will replace it with a nicer belt at some point.

1. Condor Battle Belt: http://www.amazon.com/Condor-Generation ... B00AOCFPR2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It was cheap and a good way to test the first line belt system. I also have a Condor inner belt.

2. G Code Holster on Duty Belt drop: http://www.tacticalholsters.com/category/OSH.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; These guys make awesome, modular Kydex holster.

3. Esstac KYWI double rifle mag pouch: http://www.skdtac.com/Esstac-M4-Double- ... ss.219.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They are fast, secure and awesome

4. Esstac KYWI double pistol mag pouch: http://www.skdtac.com/Esstac-Pistol-KYW ... ss.235.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Same as above

5. HSGI Bleeder/Blowout pouch: http://www.hsgi.us/proddetail.php?prod=HSG-MBP" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You gotta have a first aid pouch, and this one is awesome and easy to use.

6. Condor Rollup dump pouch: http://www.condoroutdoor.com/ma223-fold ... pouch.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This one is cheap, but I like the way it rolls up and hangs.

As you can see, this stuff is not cheap, but quality gear is worth it. The key is to select stuff for a reason, and buy what suits your needs best. Condor does make a couple smaller things I like, and it is good for testing out concepts, but I wouldn't want to use it for serious field use.

maverick2076,

I just came back to look at this thread.

Thanks - You put in a lot of effort to help me and I appreciate it, but most of the prices for the stuff SKD is selling is way higher than I care to spend.

Is it high quality stuff? You bet, but I don't need that high a quality.

At Old Grouch's, I found a magazine bandolier with a belt for $14.95 (perfect for my magazine carrying purposes) - but, I passed on it as they also wanted $10.00 for freight.

I'm kinda hard headed about not being willing to spend that percentage on freight vs. the cost of the item itself - so I'll keep looking.
