Spartan Shotgun Shells -anygood?
I ran across some Spartan brand 2 3/4" 12ga buckshot shells for a decent price and wondered if anyone has any experience with them. I'm sure I've seen the the brand before but don't know anything about them.

Probably the best 00 Buckshot for the money right now. Made in Italy, 1315 fps, Cheddite Hulls with folded crimps and the buckshot rides in a plastic birdshot type wad with no buffer. The company that imports them is located in Round Rock
.
Out of my Cylinder Bore Remington 870 Express HD it shoots 11 inch patterns at 50 feet with perfect feeding. Unless you live in a really big house, they should work fine for Home Defense or Outside The Home Defense out to 25-30 yards.
Good stuff for the money.

Re: Spartan Shotgun Shells -anygood?
Thanks, Leon. I did find the Round Rock connection as well as European links with some very fine shotguns listed on their website. One site said the ammo was loaded in the USA, but it was confusing as to whether it was referring to Kemen or Spartan shells, though they seem to be the same company. I only found one complaint about a shot bulging on a shell, but I've seen all sorts of anomalies in shot shell in my years. Mostly crimp imperfections. The individual was annoyed that it wouldn't chamber. I inspect my ammo before I use it.
I think I'm going to order a case of it to try in my defense SG's.

http://www.sgammo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has it right this second :) by the case for a great price, like $117.50 for a 250 round case.
I was under the impression it was made in Italy, with the Cheddite Primed Hulls being made in France and the remainder of the shotshell maufactured and loaded in Italy. I have had no issues with substandard crimps so far.

Re: Spartan Shotgun Shells -anygood?
Got a case from sgammo on the way. I think they were 109.50 plus 16 bucks for shipping with no tax. I had some points and coupons from Sportsmans Guide to that came out to about $103 plus shipping of $15. I'm still not sure where they are made, but doesn't matter to me really. As far as bad crimps I was just referring to the most common anomaly I've seen in all brands of SG shells. The post I saw on anther forum was attributing the bulging shell to the ammo being cheaply madeLeonCarr wrote:http://www.sgammo.com has it right this second :) by the case for a great price, like $117.50 for a 250 round case.

Re: Spartan Shotgun Shells -anygood?
Got the Spartan shells from SG Ammo this evening. The box says made in the European Union and distributed by Spartan Ammunition Round Rock, Texas. The info I saw about loaded in USA is definitely wrongLeonCarr wrote:http://www.sgammo.com has it right this second :) by the case for a great price, like $117.50 for a 250 round case.
