IMHO:
It is much safer and easier to do it with a vise. Sure it can be done, but I bet you it will be frustrating, difficult and time consuming. It also will not give you the quality you'd desire but more or less something you'll deal with. I got a Wilton industrial vise off craigslist for 40$, within 20 miles of my house. Just watch it. In fact here's one http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/[pre-paid legal]/3896013663.html . If you haven't fixed them in three years, I'd say you aren't in a particular rush to fix em'. Wouldn't you? For the record, a vise is, IMHO, a tool as necessary as a socket wrench. It's not used as often, but when you need it ::cough:: you need it. I will say, not if but when you purchase a vise, make sure it's a really nice and heavy one, at least 35lbs. A good vise doesn't have to necessarily be mounted to a work bench. In fact, I used my vise more when it wasn't on my work bench than when I bolted it down. Worst case scenario you can use one that's bolted on the back of a work truck parked somewhere and be done before they know it!

Vise rant over, on to business.

Field strip your glock and check whether or not rotating the front sight will bend/break the plastic or make it wiggly. You have a front sight tool? If not, you probably don't have a socket that fits there laying around somewhere. Another worthy investment IMO. It sounds like a lot of money, but trust me, once you do this, you'll never be satisfied with stock sights again. Wait a minute, you may not want that habit

That will work. You don't need an industrial vise. It's just a personal preference. The one I posted seems like it'll need to be mounted if you really have to beat something with a hammer.

Other handy tools for general gunsmiths are dremels, and two types of punches-normal punches and roll pins that have a hemisphere to center the punch in the roll pin. Roll pin punches are used for AR-15's and stuff like that. Allen and torx sets to very small sizes. With those tools and some select solvents you are ready to REALLY mess up any firearm you own

Me, I'd like to think of myself as a DIY kinda guy. I get a great sense of gratification from fixing problems of just about any sort. I want to do it all myself, and be darn good. It makes perfect sense to pay someone to do this job. But me personally, I don't want someone to give me a fish. I want a fishing pole and I'll figure out the rest.

Bought the gun and sights at Bullet trap Plano. Since I bought it there it was free to install. I have shot it several times over three years of owning it and kind of just adapted. I didn't truly notice until a few months ago shooting the same
Setup on a Glock 22. I feel pretty stupid but honestly didn't know any better... I grew up on bolt guns and shotguns with a few revolvers. Buying this glock was a new realm for me. I shoot well enough to defend myself but not sure what that's saying. I had to redo my scope on 30-06 thanks to cabelas incompetence. Is this a fix

I have heard the "front sight focus" a lot in the last year. My next pistol will most likely have an Xs big dot or something like that, but for now I would like this fix

As an expedient you can drift the rear sight by removing the slide from the frame. Loosen any set screws on rear sight, take a C clamp and clamp the slide to a bench with side of sight to be moved on the high side, take a piece of pine 2x4 or smaller, set wood in line with grain on sight and strike wood with hammer. That should drift the sight, adjust as required. The rear sight should be just right of center to be correct for the standard Glock.

I had Tro-Glow TFO sights installed on my new Glock 22 when I bought it. I had them installed for free by the gun shop with a press. It was right on, no windage adjustment needed. Personally -I wouldn't do it without a press. I would take the gun Back & have then check theit work.
I have these Tru-Glo sights on both my full size glocks & had no problems. The also have a set screw for the rear windage adjustment.

Yeh it's still crooked. I don't have a lot of tools besides basics and I don't have a lot of time right now. I work 12 hours minimum a day not including the hour drive there and back.

The sights have started to drift back to the right almost to the center so that leads me to believe they have done this before. I am pretty sure I would have noticed this right off the bat when I picked it up two years ago. So Is that normal after 2 years for sights to need reinstalled?
