I have a question.
This has probabaly been asked before but can the CHL packets be pick up from any avaliable DPS office? I was going to do the online registration but my class is on the 9th and I want to be sure I have a packet by the time I go. Any advice would be helpful.

It the dates for a conviction that was 15 years ago. I dont think its going to hinder me getting one but I still want to placeit just so it doesnt look like I'm trying to hide anything.Big Calhoun wrote:If it's date information pertaining to residency or employment, you'll be OK with just month and years. I had a heck of a time trying to remember specific employment and residency dates and just gave up and did month and year. No worries.
Anything beyond that...I dunno.

You can fill in any part of the self report by hand. Supporting documentation is a plus too so they won't have to look it up. I believe I recall DPS stating any self report will put your app. into investigations which can delay the process. There's a limit to the time frame they want reported. If it's not within the past XX years, I wouldn't bother putting it on there. I had a self report for a *ahem* infraction...and it was 20yrs ago. I mentioned EVERYTHING and it was delayed. I quick fax of my security clearance paperwork from the USAF and my CHL was on the way but it was still delayed and took me 90+ days. That's a long time to wait when you're impatient.
