New Gun-Decision Help

Post by Pecos »

Hi Team:
As many of you know I have been waiting for my big 10 year gift card to get a new smaller CCW for different occasions. Well it arrived yesterday. Only choice for gun store was Bass Pro.
Just want a little advice & opinions. I was origionally going for the SW M&P 40. but now am leaning towards the G23 Gen4. not too small & not too big. Also would accept my G22 mags as back ups.
Im going tomorrow to get my new gun. Here are the guns I'm going to check out. No Sub Compacts- Compactcs OK.

G23 Gen4
G19
M&P 40c
M&P 40
M&P 9
M&P 9c
Thanks in advance! :fire :tiphat:

I would go with ever feels good in your hand and has the size you want - you couldn't go wrong with either manufacturer. I love my 9c, reliable, fits my hand very well, and just the right size for carry. One downside is that 12 round magazines are very hard to find, but 15 round magazines for some reason are available. :headscratch

Those are all good guns from reputable manufacturers. As stated above, whatever feels best to you personally and you can shoot well would be the ticket. Congrats on the upcoming purchase. :thumbs2:

You might also look at the XD line from Springfield. My wife like it better than those you listed, not sure why but it is a great gun.

Thanks gthaustex - The guns I listed are the ones I feel would make reliable ccw's in my price range. Once I get to Bass Pro I will be able to see what feels good & all. I want a gun a little smalled than my G22 & G17 but not too small like the Sub Compacts. I think all my listed guns are around 1.2" thick.

I like the XDm 3.8 but I'm a little turned off by the recals & there recently reported problems. :headscratch

OK Bass Pro has a G19 Gen 4 9mm in stock. Sounds like a pretty Bad Donkey CCW! They put it on 24 hr hold untill I get there tomorrow. They didnt have the G23 in Gen 4. I will look at there M&Ps also when I get there. :thumbs2:

Is the G19 Gen 4 9mm a pretty reliable gun like the G17 & G22 in the same Generation? Anyone have a G19 Gen 4? :headscratch
