Brass vs Steel 10,000 round torture test

Post by comp73 »

I did a search and did not see this posted, so I apologize if this is a repeat.

Someone posted this to my facebook page and I thought it was interesting. 4 different brands of ammo tested independently on bushmaster MOE carbines.

Great article. Tul and Wolf are crap ammo, IMO. Fine to shoot at the range, but I would never use for self defense.

I would like to have seen this test done with a mil spec AR, such as a Colt 6920. Would be interesting to see how different results would have been.

Yes, I saw that story as well. I've never been a fan of steel ammo. But, the test is sure interesting. I guess if you have a plain AR, and don't mind just adding another barrel down the line, it may be worth it. But if you have an expensive 5.56 rifle - I think avoiding steel cased ammo is sure worth it!
