Dallas Homeower shot by police
A Dallas homeowner was shot and killed after police responded to his home where he had shot and killed a burglar. Police say he refused to put down his weapon when they arrived at the scene.

Re: Dallas Homeower shot by police
The police did the only thing they could do. Once the homeowner pointed his weapon at them, they had no choice. My guess is that the homeowner had been wakened by the burglar out of a sound sleep, possibly alcohol induced, and that he obviously was not clear minded when he shot the burglar, or when he chased the witness away at gunpoint, or when he pointed his gun and police.

My guess is that there is more to the story that we don't know about yet. Chasing witnesses with a gun? Not dropping the weapon for police? There is more to this story. Maybe there will be a follow up story, maybe not.

Sounds like he already made up his mind to die according to the witnesses...
Suicide by cop???Witness David Murphrey recounted his exchange with the man. “I said, ‘No, don’t kill him. I’ve already called the cops. Cops are on the way.’ He said, ‘Good, I’m going to kill him and then I’m going to shoot them, too.’ I said, ‘Oh, my God.’”

If you read the comments below the article, a friend wrote about him in detail. It sounds like he may have had mental issues. Sad, strange case.
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

Seemed like a nice guy according to those who spoke of him. Tragic event.

Re: Dallas Homeower shot by police
The story has now been updated and has a lot more detail. It says he had the burglar held at gunpoint and the burglar and witnesses were begging him not to shoot him. Witnesses said they told him they had called police. He said ' I am going to kill him and them too'. His house was boarded up and they said he may have had no utilities. Sounds like the guy may have not been mentally stable.

Interesting. Dude sounds wacko and a perfect example why the police respond the way they do. You never know who a threat is.

The laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Sounds like it may be yet another failure in mental health care that will be turned into a "gun control" issue/discussion by the power-hungry politicians.
