In Houston at Griggs and Calhoun around 10:30am Monday, two brothers were opening a Chinese restaurant that they owned or operated. A robber "alledgedly" entered and fired a shot into the ceiling.
The suspect then "alledgedly" shot the two men, one fatally. Witnesses saw the suspect flee in a white SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition.
The suspect was described as a "an African-American male in his early 30s, light-skinned in complexion," said ... a Houston police homicide investigator. "He was wearing black shorts, a black shirt and a green and yellow colored baseball cap -- maybe with a Celtics logo—as well as yellow and green tennis shoes, possibly high tops." He is about 6'5" according to another report.

This neighborhood is not a Garden of Eden, but it's not all that bad. I've been there many times.

Houston: Brothers shot by robber, one fatally
Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.
Re: Houston: Brothers shot by robber, one fatally
What kind of low life would kill a man for roughly $20? The restaurant just opened so their register only had a couple of bills for change in it. I reckon all they had was probably just $20. Whatever did this is not human but a varmint.seamusTX wrote:shot the two men, one fatally

He shouldn't be too hard to find. Probably playing hoops around the corner.

Someone consumed by hatred, anger, envy, and greed. That should cover about half the deadly sins.drjoker wrote:What kind of low life would kill a man for roughly $20?
Maybe someone who ODed on hip-hop videos.
Maybe. But there is a widespread belief—which is not unfounded—that Asians carry lots of cash and possibly gold and jewelry. Many Asian immigrants distrust banks and government, because in the countries that they came from, the currency was devalued and/or bank accounts frozen or confiscated. The restaurant just opened so their register only had a couple of bills for change in it.

I doubt it.MechAg94 wrote:Did someone have a protection money scheme going?
Extortion usually involves guys with no neck roughing up the victims. It's very difficult to get money from people that are killed, not to forget it being capital murder.

Yeah, I hate that stereotye that Asians are dripping with cash, unarmed and wimpy pushovers who are the perfect crime victims. The problem is that most immigrants are from a country where guns are banned. They don't come from a "gun culture" so there's no daddy to teach son how to shoot. Most Asian countries have death or life imprisonment as the penalty for firearm possession. Even after moving to America, most never touch a gun. I've managed to teach most of my friends and family how to shoot and more importantly enjoy shooting as a sport or pastime.
