I have a great girlfriend who has recently expressed an interest in owning a weapon for self defense. Although she has always been very supportive of me carrying, shooting, etc. she has never been a fan of shooting. I took her once to an indoor range and she just couldn't handle the noise.
I want to find a private range or an outdoor place to shoot near the DFW area where there will not be a ton of activity around her. Any one know of place that might fit the bill?

Honestly Elk Castle is public but almost always empty during the week. They also have private lanes you can rent for a little mord. It is off of 30 in Fort Worth. I think it is either off Cherry st exit of Las Vegas Trail. It is on the service road. North side.
Some people simply need a high five, to the face, with a chair!

Several private lanes... but still pretty noisy, as any indoor place would be.suthdj wrote:shootsmart has a private lane
Quail Creek is outdoors, about 5 minutes North of the Speedway right off I-35W. (Exit at 1171 and go West... Will dead end quickly at the range)
I've had mixed experiences there... sometimes the RO's can be quite overzealous. There are several threads about QQ.
In a pinch, it's not awful.

I've posted before that I've mostly had a positive experience at QC. That said, if possible, it is best to go during the morning on a weekday. Things tend to be more laid back when there isn't a huge gaggle of folks for them to watch over. And its just a fact that the more people you get total, the more true knuckleheads you will get, too.RoyGBiv wrote:Several private lanes... but still pretty noisy, as any indoor place would be.suthdj wrote:shootsmart has a private lane

Check out Denton County Sports, Greybeard owns it and it is a great place to shoot and actually practice self defense versus the 2 seconds between rounds that other ranges have. The shooting stalls go out to 50 feet, it is membership based, it is the only place that I will practice with my handguns.

She could go with my wife's group. It's a women only shooting club. They go to an outdoor private range in South fort Worth. The range owner uses the range for firearm classes, and he's always there. Some of the women in the group are NRA instructors too, so plenty of knowledge. My wife wouldn't touch guns until early this year. Now, she goes at least twice a month to shoot up all my ammunition.
