Now Target will start posting 30.06 signs due to the CHL holder losing his gun and the employee being stupid enough to shoot himself. :banghead:

Luckily, I don't shop at Target.

Wonder what retention he was using? The story says, "it fell out of his pocket.". How? Did he keep other things in that pocket?

Perhaps a jacket pocket?

How do you not hear the clunk when it hits the ground or not feel the difference in weight? Must have been one of those foldable derringers or something.

Wonder if the employee saw it fall and had intentions of keeping the new "toy" he found instead of stopping the customer or taking it back to him. Otherwise, how do they know that it fell out of his pocket? Guess they could have reviewed security footage or maybe somehow located the guy and asked.

I attribute it to the change in dress with that cold snap here. He probably carried in a jacket pocket for the first time in 6 months, so the change in feel without the gun wasn't noticeable. Plus, jacket pocket carry is not very secure. If you stoop down, the jacket can catch on your thigh and spill the pocket contents out on the floor. I've not had that happen with a gun, but with other pocket contents.

He must think he is a dead eye shot only carrying a .22. Good thing it was not a larger caliber

What I am curious about is, where did the bullet go after it went through the hand?

"A store employee who found the gun thought it was a lighter and tested the trigger, shooting himself in the hand, ..."

So if it had been a lighter, he would have burned his hand instead?
