When new to CC did YOU have Dreams about it

Post by Target1911 »

I was wandering if anyone had, or still has dreams about things dealing with CC.

I had one a couple of weeks ago that i found odd. I am not new to guns but i am new to CC. It is amazing how you different sinarios run through your mind and your awareness goes up. Anytime I get excited about something in my life or a new lifestyle comes into play(change in jobs, GF, CHL) I have dreams about it.

Here is mine...in short

REMEMBER...THIS IS DREAM

I was in my house and 3 guys had come over, friends of a friend that was there. I remember not knowing them well BUT my SA kept "spidy" crawling up my neck. I kept an eye on them caus something told me they were up to no good. Something inside said WHEN....I drew my 1911 just as they turned toward me (about 40 ft away from me). I told them to GET OUT. All 3 made a movement toward thier waistbands and I could see they were pulling guns. I yelled for them to stop, they didnt. I fired 3 rnds, one very well place shot to each, and they fell dead. There was a short time laps then the cops were there. They asked what happened, I told them.....they said I was lucky.....the trio was connected to many bad things including murder.....shook my hand and left.

After I woke up, I was in shock that i even had such a dream.

Sounds like a bad-dream-turned-good. Let's hope you don't have to experience it during waking hours.

Good thing you woke up before the lawyer estimates were quoted to you. It would have really been a nightmare then! I think dreaming about it is a good thing...shows that you are playing "what if" scenarios in your head. Sounds like you are a good shot.....

When I was in LE I had a couple of different recurring dreams that are common in LE; one was the trigger just would not move no matter how hard I pressed, and in the other the bullet would fall to the ground straight from the barrel, like a cartoon.

After I left LE those dreams dissipated. Its funny, but after the first school I went to with my first Kimber 1911, I had a dream that the gun was flawless in a shooting, and my tactics and skill were spot on. :?: I guess that shows the confidence from the additional training and in that Kimber.

Don't have many dreams about guns anymore.

I am PROUD of my Kimber. It a very good gun.
And I can only hope I dont have to live my dream but it kind gives me a little piece of mind in the hopes that if the a problem arises, I will be able to STEP UP to what is needed to be done without hesitation.

Oh Yeah. I leave tonight for Breckinridge to enter a IPSC match...MY FIRST. AND i get to shoot my brand spankin new PT145 Mill Pro for the first time.

I CANT WAIT

Mine usually consist of my gun not working (like TXi's dream), trigger is hard to pull, or more annoying, it is just to spongy (for lack of a better disctription) and the rounds not doing anything to stop the threat in my dream...

I would love to know why you have dreams like this because my theory is that people who have dreams like this, tend to be hesitant "sub-conciously" to defend themselves by using deadly force...

But conciously, I seem to not have that inhibition for some reason...

Definitely a struggle I suppose...

My dreams along those lines have usually involved trying to hunker down and defend the kids, and the younger one doesn't understand what's going on and will not shut up!

I almost never remember my dreams. But there have been stressful periods in my life where I would have recurring nightmares along that theme, and I would not be able to forget them. I would keep replaying them through the day, trying to win the conflict.

I had very similar dreams when I worked in LE and asked a shrink about it one time. He said that in my dream the gun represented power. The person I was shooting at represented a problem. My not being able to shoot of them and get rid of the threat represented me not being able to rid of a problem in my cognitive life. He said when you have these dreams to think about what in your life is bothering you and go after it and most likely you will get rid of those dreams. For what it's worth I still to this day have these dreams.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

I have dreams , all the time that I have a gun, but I have the wrong ammo for it, I spend my whole dream looking for the right ammo in very screwed up situations!

I have shot IDPA with a few folks who load their ammo much like this...a 40 S&W with zero muzzle flip...pretty neat until the steel comes out and it will not fall for them!

During my years working for the Texas prison system....I had to assume that the Sgt's that loaded the qualification ammo must have been on a very very tight powder budget. I bet the lead round nose bullets were not going over 500 FPS.
