What are the rules?

Post by Tim the Teacher »

What are the rules for taking your own weapon in to the show? I am looking for a OWB holster for my XD 9 and want to take it so I can fit it.

Firearm must be unloaded and concealed either on person or in a case. Make sure there should be no ammo with you at all times, unless you are purchasing it at the show. When you are at the check point to tie strap your firearm, make sure there is absolutely no ammo in your mag(s) or anywhere on person. They will take away your ammo and you will not see them again.

Probably gonna throw $7 at 'em 1:30ish Sunday. IIRC, they have scheduled to shut down at 4:00 - when lots of the vendors used to start packing up and vacating anyway.

I groped the XD 9 about 8-10 times today....I'm really hoping the XD 9 SC is as comfortable with pearce extension grip as the service model is....it feels made for my hand.

I came home with a S&W 642 and about 100 rounds of practice ammo for it.

I also got my Kershaw Blur resharpened for $3.

Went looking for night sights for my Sig P229, came home with a new P229R with factory night sights. I was putting too many rounds on the one 229 anyway.

I picked up a Mossberg 500 as well, just for good measure. All in all, I'd call it a successful outing.

Before leaving, I signed up for DCSA to have a table at the next show in September. When I asked about a confirmed closing time, it was indeed 4:00 p.m., in part because a lot of the vendors are ready to pack up and drive home - and in part because gang members had been showing up during the late afternoon.

I went both days!

Yeah, spent too much cash. Got the Glock 26 paper free and the AR was just an emotional and investment purchase. More emotional than investment! The P22 is something I didn't get at the show, but I put it in the pic because I bought it last week from Bass Pro Shop.

Man, I was noticing those gang bangers. In fact, after walking out with about $1500 in purchases, I was walking VERY quickly to the car since I didn't have a loaded gun on me. I was with my girls too, so it was a double whammy paranoid time...

gang bangers?

Post by Rex B »

I was there till about 2:00. I must be oblivious, didn't see anyone I'd have called a gang member, but maybe I'm just oblivious.
Picked up some 1911 parts and couple of AR receiver forgings 2/$25.
Too many good deals, but I didn't find a good swap for my .22 Luger.

Good for you in being aware of your surroundings. However, you probably didn't notice the seven DPD bike officers in the parking lots, or the other four uniformed DPD officers patrolling the exterior with squad cars. And I know you didn't notice the covert DPD officers walking around and observing the parking lots, or the BATF undercover agents doing the same.

We are well aware of this situation, along with the potential for cars getting BMVd, and were there before, during, and after the show both days. Stay safe and we hope to see you in the fall.

Some of those GB are probably UC officers as well.

UC or GB?

Post by Rex B »

I would think the real GBers would be able to spot them.
Surely they know most of thei "peers" on sight.
