I own 1911s, SAs, Rugers, and Glocks. I've carried them all, but the G23 is my go to gun. IMHO, the G23 is one of the most versatile and reliable firearms made.

I sometimes carry my G32 which is essentially the same as a G23. I enjoy carrying & shooting Glocks and I can't really complain about performance or reliability. I don't any ammo problems to report either as I have fed many brands and bullets in my different Glocks and have not found them to be finicky.

G23 is my daily carry. Reliable, easy to conceal, and plenty of holsters and accs available.

Join GSSF for 2 years and you will get a card that allows you to by a blue label G23 for $425.

The .40 is a terrible round. Get the G19 which is the same gun in 9mm.

With the Modern day Defensive ammo the 9mm is no longer a slacker! I love my G19 Gen4. :fire

There's a reason that the Glock 23 is the most-issued sidearm for the majority of LEO's throughout the USA.....

....other than that, it's a good, reliable gun in a potent caliber. It's a good choice.

The 1911 will ALWAYS have my heart, but the G23 has been with me pretty much whenever I leave the house for a while now. It's just a great combination of size, weight, capacity, reliability and recoil performance. Eats whatever I feed it, and I don't have to worry about it getting beat up like I used to with my 1911's. Not at all emotionally attached to it, aside from the fact that I know it'll work if I ever need to use it, and won't cause me to grieve were I to ever lose it. I have a number of .40s, but like this one enough to have bought a 2nd one. With night sights....;) Good luck with your decision!

I'm not sure on the 23 being number one but don't have any specs. The Glock 22 IMO is issued more then the 23 as it is the full size counterpart. and the Glock 17 (9mm) is also very popular. All the contracting gigs I looked into required qual with a G17. We had the g22's issued in SO CAL and they worked hence the reason I stuck with a Glock here in Texas.

I'd figure the 23 would be issued more due to the number of plainclothes LEO's, Feds, and LEO's wanting a smaller gun for on- & off-duty carry.
