Suicides at gun ranges are more common than you might think. I know of several. Many of them never make the news.

My first thought was why go to a gun range to do this? Then I read the article and realized he rented the gun. Whether he owned his own guns or not, the entire situation still puzzles me. That's some really twisted personal issues to go through with that much planning.

I feel bad for his family and I'm completely sorry the person who rented the gun to him and/or witnessed the incident has to now deal with it.

Can you rent/give a handgun to a person under the age of 21 without parental consent. Just wondering.

The statutes only state you cannot give access to a person under 17 a firearm. At 17 they can possess one legally.

You are right. I was thinking 21 because a dealer can't sell a handgun with a 4473 to a person under 21.

So sad. I hate to hear about things like this. Unfortunately, if one is determined to hurt themselves, this is only one way to do it...

Ain't the first time for that location/store. Happened when I was attending TAMU between '05-'09. in that prior occurrence, a person also rented a gun and then committed suicide.

Mike and Katy run a tight ship. Sorry to see this happen at their business.

Agreed. I have bought many firearms there and will continue he to do so. I usually deal with Roger when I buy there.

I've seen policies at ranges which rent firearms that they will not rent to a single individual, meaning that one must have someone with them. I initially thought that odd, but in light of a few of these type incidents it seems plausible.

This will go down as another gun violence case. I remember a man that tried to commit suicide by drinking a quart of weed-be-gone. After many hundreds of thousands in hospital bills he finally died. For whatever reason people do commit suicide, the only thing different is the tools that they use.
