glock question
I got a glock 30 in trade and while a really like it, I am really confused. It has Gen 3 grips, no Gen 4 marked on the slide, Gen 4 spring, changeable backstrap, and a test fire date of may 2013. Any ideas?

Gen 3.5 IDK
Although, I do seem to remember that some Gen 4's were made later with the not so aggressive stippling that so many complained about. If that's true, maybe it's one of those.

Cant really see the grip due to my tape, but they are the gen 3 style.

Re: glock question
Looks like a standard Gen 3 ... what makes you think there is anything Gen 4 about it?

Re: glock question
A previous owner probably put a double-coil spring in the Gen 3.

Mine is the same as the one on the right which is a Gen 4. It is my understanding that you cant interchange because (for lack of better terminology) the hole is too small.

Different calibers, so different size spring holes in the slide.G23WAX wrote:Mine is the same as the one on the right which is a Gen 4. It is my understanding that you cant interchange because (for lack of better terminology) the hole is too small.

Re: glock question
Got it, Thanks. I knew you guys would know. Looks like a previous owner just switched the spring and swapped out both mags for gen 4 mags and added an aftermarket backstrap. It looks to have very low rounds. Traded straight for an xd .40. I feel like I got a good deal!

Re: glock question
I just realized this was a Glock 30. They had a double spring recoil assembly in them all along. The 29, 30 and 36 are all double recoil springs, even in earlier generations. So, it is probably just the original spring.

I believe all the subcompact "baby" Glocks in all calibers (models 26, 27, 29, 30, & 36) all had double recoil springs from day 1.

Re: glock question
Yep, it's a gen3. The double spring is factory.

Re: glock question
The subcompact Glocks come with a double recoil spring. The backstraps on that pistol don't change out either. The pin you see holds some parts in place. It's a regular Gen 3.
