Re: Springfield XDs 9mm at Carter's Country
As of about two hours ago, my "post recall" XDs45 is sitting in one of my ffl buddy's shop pending either $475 cash deal or a trade deal for a particular rifle if he can track it down. If it's a cash deal, I "lost" a whole $25 to rent the gun for 4 months (actually only 2 months - Springfield had it for the other two months). If the rifle deal works out, I lose nothing.
The XDs is a well made handgun, and mine was totally reliable and would have made a great carry gun, if I could shoot it. I just could NOT get accustomed to the trigger, and did not want to alter my normal handgun muscle memory that centers primarily around da/sa revolvers and D/A Kahr pistols. I gave it one more try yesterday and still shot 4-6 inches low, offhand, at 7-10 yards. Then pulled out the Kimber Compact and ate the shoot n see off the cardboard. The Kimber hasn't been in my carry rotation in 3-4 years, but it just may return.
I have no doubt that a lot of folks can make the XDs sing, but unfortunately I couldn't.

Buds has both the 9mm and the 45 in stock for $499.00 with free shipping. It torques me that mine is still at the factory while they are selling new ones (at less money than I paid for mine). Something just not right about that.

I just got back from the "shop" with $475 in my pocket for my factory upgraded XDs. Actually only lost $28 and some "time" on the gun, but it was just another gun experience to add to the list.
