Picked up a new to me G19 today

Post by jmra »

Through a series of swaps starting with an old arcade game the kids weren't playing anymore, I came to acquire an almost new looking G19. Based on the SN it is a 3 year old blue label model. Looks as if it were shot very little.
I only agreed to the trade because of all of the 9mm love many forum members have been spreading of late. I have had a G23 for a while and I plan on comparing the two side by side. That is of course if I can ever find some 9mm ammo that won't cost me my first born.
Can't wait to report my findings. Plan on my wife being part of the experiment also. She has a gen 4 G23 and has always been reluctant to carry a 9mm because of the stories of yore about the older 9mm rounds. After showing her some ballistics charts she has an open mind. We shall see how differently we perform with the two models (right after I find some 9mm rounds).

Nice! Can't go wrong with a 19. Try out the HST or Gold Dot in standard pressure 124 if you can find it and shoot it into some wet phone books. Nothing scientific but you will see that they open up very nicely and that the round can't be dismissed like it was in the 90s.http://le.atk.com/ammunition/federal/ha ... spx?id=579 That is what my wife carries and I am sure it will do the job.

I think I am about to unload 3 or 4 of mine on to the firearms section in the next few days with some .40S&W and .30 .30 ammo. I just don't shoot some of them anymore.

Congrats. I love my G19. Can't really go wrong with any Glock. I use the Speer Gold Dot +P 124 grain hollow points but the Glocks will feed about any ammo you decide to use and pretty much all of them will kill a person needing killed. ;-)

I'm not a big one on bullet wars. Any well made premium ammo with a self defense designed hollow point will work just fine. I am more about choosing the one that the particular handgun I am carrying likes to shoot reliably.

Thanks guys. Believe it or not, I walked out of Walmart with 300 rounds of WWB this morning. So hopefully this weekend I'll get to do some shooting with both the 19 and 23. Looking forward to it.

The 19 is a great gun... One of my favs.

Go to Academy in Burleson. I don't know what's up with them, but I got some 40 off the shelf, and around the corner was a pile of boxes. I bet there were at least 100,000 rounds of various types of ammunition. It looked like they backed a dump truck in and dumped it all out.
