KY to TX
I currently hold a KY CDW License and will be moving to TX. Is there a grandfather clause for TX applicants for those with current lic/permits? Will I have to go without a lic/permit and not carry until I reach the 6 mo period?

Your KY license will be honored in TX.
The 6 month period no longer applies. Getting a TX driver's license shows intent to establish residence in TX. This makes you eligible to take the class and apply for a TX CHL right away.
90 days later (max) and you will have a TX CHL.
