An FAL is definitely on my must have list! How much does it cost when building yourself?

Nice build party. Build what you own.

Anyone like DSA-FAL?

This looks tempting:

Andy - Obviously I am a complete amateur when it comes to building FN-FALs.
What is the long wooden contraption with the little brass handles? Some type of workbench, vise?

Cool pictures...where is the best place to buy FN-FAL kits? Receivers?

Thanks in advance,

I am studying the build process very carefully, especially that last picture.

So what is the best build lubricant? Shiner Bock, or something imported? Does the lubricant have to be matched to the kit source? e.g. Fosters, LaBatts, or Kipling for the Commonwealth kits? Castle, Corona, or Hoegaarden for the metric ones?

Twice in my life I had access to real FN-FAL
1) Standard barrel length with Synthetic stock.

Very similar to this one:

2) A heavy-barrel with permanently attached bipod and inverted handle, and wood stock, know as LAR 50.42
This has the Synthetic stock:

The 2) is for sure is heavier but more fun to shoot.

A portable base that the barrel-vise is screwed to permanently :)
Thanks - I kinda sort of thought that. ;-)
