Load data for 9mm 124gr Copper plated

Post by wally775 »

I reloaded for many years and then put the urge away
for way to long. I reloaded mostly revolver in 44spc, 38/357, 44mag
I am getting back into the addiction.

I am going to be reloading 9, 40, 45acp and the revolver rounds mentioned above
I have not reloaded any of the copper plated bullets and I am having trouble
finding any good references (load data).

Can someone point me in the right direction for a manual
or give me some starting points?

As per the subject header I am especially interested in the 9mm (9x19)
bullet.

I have for powder: Unique, Bullseye, 700X and Titegroup.
Bullets are X-TREME 124gr round nose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

here's an excellent "free" start

http://www.alliantpowder.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

some pretty helpful data available from the powder manufacturers on line ... to help you get started

Then there's quite a few manuals to choose from (I'd get at least two ...or three)

edit to add: oopppsss... I just checked the Alliant site .... they seem to now show no data for plated bullets, and they are NOT the same load charges as for jacketed.

Use cast lead bullet data as the starting point for plated bullets.

:iagree: I've loaded 500 rounds using the X-treme plated flat nose hollowpoint in front of Unique using the same charges as with cast lead flatnose and had excellent results.

Hodgdon is listing data for several of Berrys plated bullets now.

I have used 4.2 grains of Titegroup with the 124 gr Berry and it gets 1100 fps in Glock17/19. Your mileage may vary, so use proper technique and start at lower powder charge weights and work up.

Thank you for the replies.
I have also come across some A# 7 powder and believe
I have decided on some loads. I hope to have some loaded
and tested in the next two weeks.
I will come back and post the results.

Thanks again. :tiphat:
