Had to pull it today...
I was on my way to church this morning and stopped at a red light. A blue Jeep Cherokee pulled up next to me in the lane on my right. A young tatooed dude jumps out of the driver side. I watched him closely and was ready to step on the gas to clear the area if he tried anything (I was first in line at the light).
Instead, he runs around to the passenger side of the Jeep. I looked and what appeared to be either his girlfriend or wife was in the passenger seat, both windows rolled down. She immediately starts grabbing the door handles as he tries to open the door. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it was apparent that she was scared.
He pulled the door open and tried to pull her out. Her seat belt was still on. I thought he was going to start hitting her. He looked up and saw me looking at him, but he kept going while keeping an eye on me watching him.
It looked like things were about to get real ugly. I kept my eye on him as I reached for my leather holster on my left hip. He was watching me as I cleared leather. He started to back off on the aggression as he saw my weapon. He quickly changed tactics and pushed the female passenger to the drivers seat while he got him the passenger seat and closed the door.
No doubt about it, when he saw me punch in 911 on my "weapon" he changed his mind and got out of there. I never leave home without my cell phone in its leather holster on my belt.

Good job glock75.
I teach a personal awareness class. One of my statements is:
This (pull cell) needs to be our first reach. This (pat gun) needs to be you last).
I hope you went ahead & called w/ a liscense #.

Is this a good thread to post about the time my cell phone rang and when I reached for it I ended up drawing my SP101 instead?
This was around noon time on Main St. Pawtucket, RI.
Amazingly, no one noticed even though there were cars and people all around.
FWIW, in RI it was not a violation of the law. The pistol permit I had back then allowed for carrying a pistol or revolver "whether concealed or not". The law was written to cover security guards who needed to carry. It was INTENDED for people in uniform, but it was not WRITTEN that way. So I was OK.

I would have still called the law on that incident.
Any person who loses control like that and conducts themselves in that manner in public, needs to have an official intervention called upon them.
That way if there is nothing to be had from this, and it is a misunderstanding, all is well, officially.
Isn't "eye contact" a powerful tool in our arsenal? And a tool that cannot realistically be used against you if someone believes that is escalating a situation. People who do conduct themselves in this manner deserve a good "lookin' at", if that will difuse a volitile situation.
Public scorn is a great equalizer, that deflates a high precentage of incidents like this.
I would not have pulled a gun on a situation like this, yet those cell phone gadgets do come in handy, don't they!

I found a ring tone that sounded just like the tone used by most competition shot timers. After a couple days of "Going for my...phone", I changed back to Brown Eyed Girl.frankie_the_yankee wrote:Is this a good thread to post about the time my cell phone rang and when I reached for it I ended up drawing my SP101 instead?

Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.
