Saxet Gun Show

Post by stash »

Travis (Austin) County's Loss is Hays County"s gain. I heard/saw on the TV yesterday the Saxet Gun Show is moving from Austin To Dripping Springs. That's real close to where I live so I will get to go see what this gun show stuff is about. I refuse to drive in Austin unless it is a life or death situation. In case you don't know Travis County in essence kicked them out (had to do with back ground checks on private sales at the show).

Travis is now bracketed by gunshows in Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, and Giddings (the advertised only real gunshow whatever that means).
Agreed, their loss. Marble Falls probably has lower sales tax too.

I prefered the Expo Center. Dripping is a good road trip from north of ATX. :banghead: Shame on those county folks for not renewing the lease!

Are they going to post their anti-CHL signs at this location?

It'll be interesting to see. According to the Saxet site, the show will be at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park which is City owned. Page 5 of the City's rental policy for the park says no firearms:

We only recently spotted the massive building across from the elementary school on RR12 and were amazed at the size of it. My wife said "must be their Municipal Building" and I said it was "too big for that" and sure enough, it's an Event Center at 166,000sqft--massive from the highway.

I will be making my first visit to a Saxet Gen Show in March!

The Austin gun show at the city-owned Cedar Park center is posted 30.06. Those signs have remained up at the entrance after the gun show left. I inquired about them at the time, Cedar Park PD knew the law and the officer I talked to suggested that he wasn't going to make an "illegal" arrest, but he couldn't guarantee that someone else wouldn't be willing to do it.

My suggestion is to inquire directly with law enforcement at the door, while unarmed. And record that interaction.. I've seen several circumstances where making those interactions public encourages police departments to educate their officers or change policy.

A better idea is not givng money to companies and political candidates that don't support my civil rights, including RKBA.

:iagree: Same deal for me.

I enjoy going to gun shows but haven't found a bargain yet, so the move to Dripping Springs may just take away the urge to go completely.

I had intended to go to this show just to show my support for the move, but circumstances are gonna keep me from attending this month.

I hope others here have gone, or will visit today and tell us about it?

If anybody went, please say if CHL are welcome or if SAXET still doesn't like law abiding citizens bearing arms.

I went yesterday afternoon. They were crowded and selling guns. I was really surprised at price and selection of new handguns.I saw new Nanos for about $50 dollars less than Academy Sports. If you like Glocks (I do) it was Glock heaven. They even had the new G42. Lots of revolvers and 1911's (I got to admit the STI looks a lot better in person than in pictures). Even saw a all black Taurus TCP which I been looking for. They did have 3006 signs, but I understand most gun shows do. I will go next time they come to town. Hope it was good enough for them to keep coming to Dripping Spring but it sure looked real crowed to me but I have to say I never went to the one in Austin so I cannot compare crowd size.

For a Sunday afternoon I would think "real crowded" means a very good turnout.

I am gonna try and go next time, thanks for the report.
